Default building is great, what about flying?

OK, you've build the ultimate plane (e.g Nagary's Xigris), but what about flying? You don't find many flying tips in the forums, why?
What practice techniques will bring you from sportsman level to FAI?
How do you practice a new schedule? A new single maneuver?
Do you use a simulator before going to the flying field?
Are you using your 2X2 plane for regular training or maybe a cheap foamy until you master the maneuver?
Any written stuff on the subject? Interesting links?
What’s your view?

Thanks

Yoav

check out the RC pattern forum. You will find great information about trimming (which is very beneficial) and also a thread on "your biggest aha moment" or something like that. There are lots of tips if you go and look for it.

For the rest: find some friends so you can coach eachother and go out and fly. "Burn Fuel" used to be the best tip; guess now it has to be "move those electrons".

A simulator can help you to excersize some manouvers however I don't find them very helpful for pattern. Just my 2c of course.

I think the electrons actually stay in place, it's the "oomph" that moves. . .

oomph sounds a bit, well oomph! So if we fly electric we can't say "burn fuel"!! What to say then?? [sm=spinnyeyes.gif] I think inside the Lipo you have a chemical process, maybe we can use that??

My tip,

Once you're comfortable flying the class your in, start flying the next class schedule a few times a week. You'll be amazed at how that helps your current schedule.

Get a good coach.

How about fly your plane? Nah.. not catchy enough. Transfer electrons... No, thats not good either. Hummm.. This is a big problem that we're going to have to deal with.

Whether it's a battery or a fuel tank, it's still stored potential energy.

I'm okay with using "fuel" to describe the energy stored in my batteries. It's simple and makes sense.
