Anybody knows the actual weight of Blue 5s 5000mah sold by Hobbypartz.com?
The claimed weight is 610 grams (http://www.hobbypartz.com/83p-5000mah-5s1p-185-20c.html).

I've ordered 4 more packs from them which should arrive today - they had a sale (perhaps still do) on them - great price for the packs.

How many cycles have you on these 'Blue's'.
Whar are the IR's like.

On one of the packs I have about 40 cycles on it... IR is in the 2.3 - 2.6 range. The other pack is relatively new and I only have about 5 cycles on it.

Well I've just ordered 6 packs at £190.00 total, delivered to the UK........................................I'm having some of that pie!
These will be my first sets of 5s lipo's (I'm running a little behind you guy's on the e-changeover from YS) so testing them in the air will be fun I'm sure [8D]

I received mine this week and each battery weighs 615 grams, 50 less than my Turnigy pack. I did noticed that the Blue pack uses 12 AWG wires. As a comparison, the Turnigy pack uses 10 AWG wires and is longer.
Each of the four packs has 50% "fuel" remaining as revealed by the FMA 10s charger. Pretty amazing.

RE: Hobby king lipoly batteries
Joe,
I keep my packs in a really cool place, the garage, over the winter at storage voltage. If I can get at least 40 flights out of each of these packs, that's fine by me. That is all I need at the price I payed for these packs. Hopefully worth the risk to purchase now. I also know of someone who has at least 60 cycles on a few sets anyway. Otherwise, I would have not purchased them at the regular price at this time of year. I consider these 10S practice packs and packs for my 5S powered Osiris.
Frankly, for as hard as we push Lipos in our pattern planes, you are lucky if you get over 100 cycles out of a pack with 50 to 70 cycles of those that are truly competition worthy at the AMA Masters and F3A levels. I always purchase at least two fresh sets before the Nats each year to get the power I want to have available at that time. This past pattern season was particularly hard on lipos because it was really hot this summer (a whole lot more 90F plus days than usual in the Northeast thats for sure). Also, in my case, the new shorter Masters sequence should reduce potential abuse and hopefully provide better cycle life.

Having checked weights etc this is what I have:
1 x 610g pack
2 x 611g packs
2 x 612g packs.
IR's are around 1.4 - 1.5 checked in their dormant charge state.
The above weights are straight out of the packaging without any mod's being applied.
Just thought it may be useful info to some.
Regards,
Andy.

All
I ordered and received four of there 5S 5000 and all of them had IR's in excess of 60 meg-ohms. All my Hobby Kings and F3A Unlimitted packs were in the 20 meg-ohms range. They also arrived in a box that was twice the size needed with no packing and the box was beat all to pieces and crushed. I tried for three days to get someone to return an e-mail or answer the phone that all four different numbers they list were busy from early morning to closing. On the fourth day someone sent an e-mail saying they were too busy for customer service to respond due to "too much business!!" This company appears to be a Hong Kong operation with a sales and warehouse operation in California. I am in the process of breaking-in the batteries and the cells balance ok but it is taking more thottle stick to get the same power performance. [not sure this means anything yet] I will know more once I can go to full power for an extended time after break-in.
As with Hobby King, I am not at all impressed with HobbyPartz customer service or communications! Maybe it will get better??

RE: Hobby king lipoly batteries
Dick, mine were all in excess of 60 too. That was measured off my Icharger 3010. I read somewhere that the IR's off the Icharger are not as good or accurate as that on the FMA chargers. I had FMA's for a while, but they all went up in smoke. Luckily, I got my money back. So I don't know how good those readings really are.
I wish I could get to use my packs, but the weather up north will not be cooperative for some time. Keep us posted on how well they hold up. Hopefully, I get at least 40 flights out of a set. My target is $2/flight.

Hey Joe
My numbers are from the I3010 also and is the same charger I used on the other Mfr's packs so while they may not be specifically that accurate it definitely showed an unwanted trend! Our weather sucks here too but will keep you updated.

RE: Hobby king lipoly batteries
I measured the internal resistance of one of my Blue 5s 5000mah packs today (with FMA 10s charger).
Here are the numbers (in mΩ - milli-ohm):
cell 1: 9.2
cell 2: 8.5
cell 3: 8.1
cell 4: 9.1
cell 5: 8.1
As a comparison, the resistance numbers on a Turnigy pack are lower (2.4 mΩ on all cells).
The Blue pack is brand new and I am not sure if the resistance numbers can improve after break-in.

RE: Hobby king lipoly batteries
maybe just a thought but I have found the Ir to be very temperature dependant. So at summer temperatures after flying a pack might be 10 mOhm or less for a 10S pack, in winter that pack can be 40-50mOhm. Now my packs are sitting at 5-7 degrees C (35-40F) in my garage, they might even be 90mOhm but still perfectly OK.
