Hey Todd

I thought I would start the build thread we discussed with a question. How in the heck do you drill and align the landing gear legs when you can't get to the bottom of the gear plate plate? I need to mount the wheels, axles, and pants first to get the correct track before I even start to try and mount legs into aircraft. What's your secret for getting all this correctly aligned and mounted?

Hey Dick,

I put the landing gear into the slot and from the top side drilled through the landing gear plate then into the landing gear. Then I put a blind nut into the bottom side of the landing gear. I then put that one screw in to hold the landing gear while I drilled the other holes. Then repeated on the other side. I know that sounds kinda of confusing but that how Todd explained it to me. I will see if I can get some pick up of mine.

Hi Stephen
That's about all I could come up with too. When aligned did you have any trouble with the battery tray being in the way of drilling the holes. How did you determine where to drill the first hole on the plate? I think I need to make some type of template of the gear tounge.

Dick, to get the first hole I made a template. I did drill through the battery tray on 2 holes. Also Stephen is right
you need add the blind nut into the gear its self just like the visa is done

Thanks Todd, that's about all I could come up with too. My Visa came to me with this and several other things complete like hinging and servo boxes completed. Speaking of servo boxes my wings and stabs came with the servo boxes installed. On the stabs I am laying the servos on their side for better acess. My question is what are the four small flat tabs used for? The boxes have tab slots at the top in the corners, are these tabs used to provide a place to screw a servo cover with a slot for the arm? There were no painted covers included in the kit so I'm not sure that was the purpose of the tabs but thats all I could come up with! Will probably use thin white plastic for the covers and seal with clear tape.

Edit- Chip called and told me that only two of the tabs per box were used and they were used to mount the servo on the side mount. Had to shorten and narrow them slightly to get the servo squezzed in and once completed made a very clean installation! As soon as I can figure out how to upload Pic's I will post some of them.
