Default PPG Paint

Ok, so who besides Radio South will sell paint in small quantities? Also do they have Monokote Ultracote colors? I have a local PPG, but doesn't really like to sell in small amounts.

Thanks!

I don't claim to be an expert in this area but I'm not aware of any other hobby type stores other than Radio South that sells small quantities of PPG paint. I suggest you find a color scheme you like and stick with those colors for all of your planes then buy those colors in the normal quantities available at your local PPG supplier or buy them from Radio South. The reducer and paint don't spoil only the hardener spoils. You can get the mix ratios for the various monokote and ultracoat colors off of the web. Send me a PM if you need those websites.

Chris,

I think it varies from shop to shop. Some paint shops will sell small quantities while others want you to buy a lot more. I would check around at other paint stores in your area, even if its a little longer drive,

This is true. The shop I buy from in the Houston areawill color match off a piece of Monokote (ironed on balsa)and sell as little as 1/2 pint (8 ounces).

Hi Dick,

You probably meant your question for me and not Chris. The shop I was referring to is Brault Auto Paint & Supply Store #2. They are actually in Tomball. Also, they will sell in quantities as small as 1/2 pint and not 4 ounces like I previously stated (I've gone back and edited that post). 1/2 pint is thequantity I last bought from them and I mistakenly thoughtthat was 4 ounces when it really is 8 ounces.I've been getting PPGConcept DCCand have been real pleased with their color matching. As a matter of information the latest chargefrom them was $24.95 for 8 ounces of a metallic mixed color.
