Hacker Motor Question
Guys,
Hope you can help.
Just picked up a Hacker A50 and Hacker 70 ESC for my Sebart Wind 50.
Gave it a little test last night and noticed that when I throttle back to idle the prop stops suddenly as if locking. Then if I move the stick forward one notch at a time I notice the prop starts to run backwards a tiny bit before running in the normal direction. I increased the idle ATV and I could get it to not lock but this seems an unusual requirement?
Anyone know if this is normal - I've heard of ESC brakes, is that what this is??
Thanks

RE: Hacker Motor Question
Arch,
I can only program it by the throttle stick but I guess that should be OK just to set the brake on/off? Should I leave the timing alone?
Thanks
Mark

RE: Hacker Motor Question
Seriously.. call Hacker Brushless USA.. they will help you!!
The outrunners like more timing... my A60 liked something in the 20 degree range (I think)...
the break is OK... I think you can set it to a med start and soft stop ???
I think it is common to set the break... and than trim up a low idle... for downline speed management...
call Hacker.. they will be very helpful!!

RE: Hacker Motor Question
Once you come off of the low idle position, and the motor is spinning, the break is no longer active. The brake isn't proportional to the throttle. Once you come off of the brake it is on. To take advantage of the brake, the motor must be able to reach the low throttle position. Some people use various conditions to create a low idle for stall turns and such, but you have to allow full low throttle position to be available to activate the brake,
