Hallo
I am Gerhard from Germany and I am new in this Forum.
Some weeks ago I was buying a Vanquish F3A 2meter.
The setup I use is a Axi 5324-24 with a Jeti Spin 99 an 10s
Now Ihe model is nearly ready and I am looking for the center of gravity but I cannot fnd the position of the CG in the ''assembly manual''.
Can someone give me a information where the center of gravity should be for the first flights.
Best thanks for any information
Gerhard

Hallo Gerhard:
have you try to buy lipos from HobbyCity they have a warehouse in germany, I'm from mexico and last week I was in switzerland. I buy 15 packs with a very cheap shipping, because EMS to Mexico is very expensive.
I'm pretty sure you can get good figures with turnigy or zippy packs from HC.

Flowmotion,
Give the Turnigy Nanotechs a try. They're only available from Hobby King's (formerly Hobby City) Hong Kong warehouse, so shipping is more. Several of us in Florida have started using them and they deliver noticeably more power than Zippy's and Rhinos. They're also rated for more cycles than Zippy's/ You only need the 25C/50C formulation. The higher discharge batteries are heavier and may cause you to bust weight.

I have only a few cycles on the Nanos but so far they are excellent. I am also very happy with the Zippy and Rhino packs which have about 35 cycles on them thus far.
One of my 3 Zippy packs (two 5S packs in series, actually) is inexplicably outstanding. Don't know why because the IR numbers are about the same as the other Zippys, about 4-5 milli-ohms.

I also have tried the nanatechs 45C, and I am very impressed. The hold better voltage at high amp output, and the internal resistance is very low and well matched between cells.

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
Just ordered my Vanquish since I am having such a good experience with Extreme Flight 78" Extra on 8S.
Trying to work out the right motor. There's a Hacker C50XL in the Extra, which uses this mount:
http://www.espritmodel.com/index.asp...OD&ProdID=2631
Since I fly a lot of F5B and other electric gliders mostly prefer geared motors.
Question is: Will there be an issue fitting the above style motor and a Neu F3A or Hacker C50XL in the Vanquish? For most purposes I prefer the slightly lower weight and extra efficiency you can get from a geared motor, although with modern batteries it doesn't matter so much. However I don't know anything about pattern except that the planes fly nearly as straight as an F5B Avionik and maybe outrunners have some advantage over geared inrunners besides cost?
regards

David,
The front is currently setup for an outrunner. The firewall placement is ideal for a rear mount outrunner. You will have to make a "cage" to hold the front of an inrunner as I would not try mounting it to the cowl. It can be done, but it will require some work. Any of the outrunners that are rear mount work best for this setup, but it is possible to get a geared inrunner in the nose, it will just took some work,

Thanks for that. I've had good success with hacker/esprit cage mount before. It bolts to firewall using the firewall mounting screws and then Ed lyerley showed me how to hold the back of the motor using cable ties
Three must surely be enough room between the firewall and the cowl for the length of the geared motor?

Doesn't look like it [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=10535266]here[/link]!
It would take some work, most likely a new firewall farther back.

David,
As Bob said, unfortunately not. The motor would protrude back through the firewally. The plane was essentially designed for outrunners for ease of setup and use. Extreme Flight even provides spacers to ensure the correct fit of various outrunners, but there are no provisions for a geared inrunner, but as I said, with some work, it could be done.

ORIGINAL: Having flown mine for some time now. I am currently running my CG right at the very front of the wing tube. It seems to work out very nicely there.

Arch,
When you are inverted (well, your plane) how much down do you like to input to make the plane fly level ?

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
I like to push some, but not a great deal, but I don't use the CG to set that. I set the CG with all of the other tests and then if when I'm inverted, I'm pushing more than I'd like, I either take out expo that I have in down elevator, slightly increase the throw, or on my Winds, I've actually got reverse expo to make it more sensitive around neutral so that I don't push a great deal inverted.
Once everything else is set, I will use expo to get the feel that I like, either more sensitive, or less sensitive, depending on what I need.

Fitting a Hacker C50 was a very simple task just create a nose ring to take the soft mount and install a rear support. the firewall needs to be opened up to pass the motor through.

H. Very helpful photo. Thanks. F3a seems to be the only electric area using soft mounts. Where do I get one of them? Is there a choice.

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
David, contact Jerry at www.buddengineering.com He has a nice selection of light weight soft mounts for both outrunner and inrunner motors. I've used them for years and can attest to their quality and Jerry's prompt service. BTW, "H" you are talking about some serious power in your Vanquish! You did a nice job of reworking the firewall to accomodate the Hacker 13xl. Regards, Everette
