Just building the back half of the plane , ran wires in a 1/2 '' rocket tube down the center of the fuse.

Weight .3oz

What is the purpose of the rocket tube?

Just got a message from EF on the Vanquish (aka, Husky)....They are in stock as of this morning; limited quantity.

I am intrigued enough to purchase one. It's very timely too since I recently bought a second OS33GT so this VNQ will be converted to gasoline

Congratulations on your recent purchase.
I don't recommend going gas . I don't think the structure of the airframe is strong enough to take vibration . she is solely made for electric

I'll answer this for Matt. He went all over my Vanquish last year and paid very close attention to the structure. He is incredible at building, and strengthening things when needed, see his build thread. We both agreed after some discussions that it really wouldn't be that big of a deal as there is a lot of light ply in the nose. The difference between the glow and electric version on the prototypes were very similar. There are a couple of things you might want to add some strength to, but not very many. Matt will do this and make it look like the plane was designed for gas without any issues.

Matt has also flown mine through the Masters sequence recently and has had a few chances to refresh his memory by looking mine over at the airfield. Will be very interesting to see what he comes up with in his Husky! It will be cool (in a geek way) to see both color schemes represented with two different power plants.  Will make for nice photo ops.  Cheers!

Cool.

Can't wait to see the end result .

I'm all ears and eyes when it comes to learning.

Do you think it will hit proper weight ?

Cheers

I think lots of people are having good results from the Castle 80HV

I hear YGE is good and lite too.

I'm running the Castle 120HV....only cause I got a deal on it.

Thanks Arch, as you stated.... It won't look out of place either since the OS33GT is hauling similar sized props as do electrics.

Dana I got the red and silver; forgot that you had the blue.

I keep getting distracted from completing my Delta. I did the same 3 years ago when I was finishing Aesthesis. Back then it was an EF Extra 78"/SAP180 gas engine combo.

As far as weight, it will be lighter than an E-version. All up weight of the powerplant is around 45 ounces including everything so if the crate is light enough to begin with, it won't suffer from a gas conversion. Intend to do a different thread of course, probably in the regular Pattern Forum

The Castle HV80 is what was used in the plane that this thread was started with, using the Torque motor.

Put Hsiuqnav on a diet since Jackson last month when I got a lot of good suggestions on how to trim weight.  Shortened wires, removed redundant connectors where possible, etc. The latest reduction from smaller Rx packs: 2x 2S 430 Nano-techs down from 2x 2s 850.  Went from Deans Ultras on these to lighter connectors (whatever came stock on the Nano-techs). NOT going to go to one Rx pack, however, did ditch the telemetry Tx.  A good bit of clean-up done at the encouragement of many D1 friends, thanks guys!

I too want to put mine on a diet (have lots of wires to cut and change to powerpoles) but I'm not ditching my two receivers packs.

I run one RX pack and one 2S tap off the main flight pack. The tap weighs 3g.

Pull pull system installed and a Sullivan tail wheel. The Sullivan weighs as much as the stock set-up and I think it works better.

Now just to set the wing incidence and go over the plane again and I should maiden soon.

Still waiting for my truturn spinner.

A photo of our flying club just after mowing the grass today. We have a great club with about 100 private members.
The club invested in a web access weather station with live video of the field so we can check conditions before you make the trip. It's very handy.
If anyone is in Calgary, drop us an email or PM and come flying.
Calgary will be hosting the 100th Calgary Stampede Rodeo July 6th -15th a very good time . Shuts the city of 1.3 million down for 10 days just to party.
