Default Battery Question from a new electric pilot

This my first year flying Electric so I have no experience buying batteries. Has anyone used these batteries for Pattern flying. The weight looks good.

Turnigy nano-tech 4500mah 5S 35~70C Lipo Pack

Thanks in advance

I bougth two sets last year and so far they are only ok. The weight and power were good but they started to puff after a dozen flights or so. The still fly well but I don't think I would buy them again. Will see when they come out of hybernation in the next few weeks.

My favorites so far have been the Sky Lipo 40c from Hobby Partz. Better power and better price just tough to find in stock! Some have had luck with the Zippy compact which I may try next.

The 5S 5000 25C nano techs have served me well for 2 contest seasons, going on a 3rd now. The 2 oldest sets will stay on for practicing and I am adding 2 new sets for this year's contest season (the youngest set from last year stays in the contest mix). There is no puffing or other defects, just normal wear & tear (all year round practicing). These work well if not abused fom my experience at the intermediate level of competition. YMMV, as always, but at this level of price to performance, I'm a satisfied customer. A few masters pilots have flown my planes through their schedule with no shortage of juice so that speaks well for these particular nano techs. That said, I'll stick with the 5000's and see no need for more than 25C (though I get the IR thing). Cheers!

Hi,

I'm trying Gens ace 45C (6 cell 5000 mAh in my case) now since many use them here in my country, many heli flyers. Not super expensive and hope to get 200+ cycles out of one such pack before performance will be to low.
I have used for smaller planes 3 cell Hyperion (45C) and 3 cell ThunderPower (45C) and they are good but rather expensive.
I have used DesirePower V8 35C (6 cell 5200 mAh) also and they where rather good but did not last over 200 cycles each.

The A spec Nano tech batteries are very stable and after 50 flights no puffing. I really can tell a difference in the A spec in the same size battery over the standard Nano tech. Less heat to.
