Options for 4S 5000mAh?
Guys,
I have four TP 45C 4S 5000mAh packs and want a decent airframe for them. Prefer 4S but am not opposed to 8S if something surfaces.
I'm not looking for competion so the added weight of 5000mAh doesn't concern me unless it throws the CG way out.
I fly turbines mostly and want a prop plane to experiment with gyros and just to have some fun flying as a change of pace. In the past I've had an osiris and a miss winds bipe and enjoyed both, but both are a bit large for 4S and too small for 8S.
Thanks for your input.

There is a 110 size Monolog which would be good on 8S 5000's:

Sebart Wind 110 is designed for 8S:

You could do one of the 71"-72" planes from 3Dhobbyshop.com if you want something not so geared towards pattern.

Thanks for the input guys!
What do you think about the smaller 47" Osiris?

Would 5000mAh be too heavy, or can I move it back. If i recall in my 62" Osiris i could adjust the battery location. I flew that on 5S 5000mAh.

I think you should be able to balance whatever you get, regardless. The issue I see is total weight. If a 4S plane is designed w/ 3000mah in mind and you use 5000mah, that is a large percentage of the total weight. If you are talking about an 8S plane, the change in weight is a smaller percentage of the total flying weight of the plane.
Of course the plane needs to balance right, but you also want something that will fly well. Overloading with batteries means faster landings (or increased likelihood of stalls and 'pancake' landings), slower response, and more stress to the fuselage.
Not saying you can't find a plane that will work, but I would strongly suggest finding something where you can learn from others' experiences - if lots of people are flying a 4S plane on 5000's, then go for it. If none or only a few, be careful.

You will not need that large of battery. You'll end up flying much faster to keep the plane in the air. The reason I know this is that I flew my Vanquish II 47" with a 5s 5.o amp pack. Found out that what the manufacturer suggest for power and motor setup will be more than adequate for flying pattern.

I am running 9411sa for aileron, 8411sa for rudder and 2 mini Airtronic 94820 for elevator. Go on RCgroups we have a thread in the f3a section.

Mythos is fairly new and is current:

Not sure if you are a customer of F3AUnlimited (yet) - the owner and support staff are pattern guys, they come out to lots of contests and offer world class products and support, and very fast shipping.
It is nice supporting good guys you see locally, and especially who charge reasonable prices.

BTW Dave Snow and I tested a new plane this weekend that we are looking to bring into our company soon. It has a 55 inch WS flys on 4S and initial testing is sensational. More to come on this plane soon. Mike Mueller

We have flown it using the 635 rx/ gyro setup -
and now without it and with linkages cut way back on throw more expo etc..
The plane really works -and may be just what you are looking for. very little couple -
Son Guy also has one of the latest Jesky FAI birds -Pletenburg motor etc- 10.5 lbs all up.- plus we have both flown a fair bit of pattern- so we do a bit of comparing on what does what .
Gyros can do a great job - properly sorted out - got five models using em -just to see -
-They DO really provide stability - more than one might imagine
they also can cause funny reactions on some high g maneuvers as you return to stable flight - it is a lot of fun.
