Default Gaudious canopy

Asking this in case someone has a spare Gaudious canopy... Lost mine in the wind yesterday and wind took it to parts unknown..
Weighing so little it was a kite... flying alone, no one to track its flight..
Sooooo IF anyone has one I'm in the market... Thanks! Charlie

Hey Charlie. Do you know of anyone in your club that has a quadcoptor with a camera? It's very useful for finding the needle in a haystack.
I hope someone can help you out. All the best, Mike

I had similar incident to my Passport. The canopy came off when the plane was at a height about 200f. Turned out it did not go very far. I found it after about one hour of search.

If the area is searchable, just look for it systematically. The canopy, when in light color, is quite visable.

...an example of a multi rotor copter equipped with a live video feed. [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=g3oGSJA-rV0]Video[/link] Seems like an effective search tool for downed RC aircraft and parts. Maybe every RC club should invest in one.

Another simple approach is to use one of the cheap key chain cameras, taped on the side of a plane pointed straight down. Fly back and forth in a straight pattern near/over the area where the canopy came off moving a little further out with each pass and simple half cuban eight turnarounds on the ends. We had the same type canopy 'problem' at our field here in Sacramento with an Integral canopy. The pilot didn't really see the canopy come off so the area where it might have come down was pretty large. We flew many passes at low speeds about 50-75 ft high. The image was good enough we spotted the canopy and because it was a controlled over flight pattern, we could figure out where the canopy was. We played the video back on a laptop, spotted what looked like the canopy and the pilot walked right to the canopy. It was much further away than we guessed and had been searching in the previous day.

No special equipment other than the cheap key chain camera and an electric pattern plane. We thought the electric pattern plane would cause less vibration and blurring than a glo powered plane.

We have used that exact method to find planes in the corn fields Woodie and it has never failed us. Mike
