I like the way this guy thinks design, he's always innovative.
Look at this plane, it's a straight-up F3A monoplane and yet it looks SOOOOOO contemporary!
The scale, the shape, beautiful lines and what a physical mass, stunning.
I've never been a fan of Japanese fixation of adding small pilot heads on an F3A aircraft, but this 3rd scale glider chap looks blooming wonderful!
This is without doubt THE nicest aircraft I've seen in years.
Well done Gernot.

I think it's by design....if you look at his IMAC plane, Fokker Triplane, gigantic sailplane and others in recent years, he always has "his persona" flying in the cockpits.

A citate from his FB wall:
"a sneak peak of my new F3A plane 😛
Little Gernot on the sticks"
So, you don't have to guess or assume, the pilot in the Pavana canopy is representing the master himself.
OTOH the Pavana is looking very good without bells and whistles. Clean as his goal was. Nice!
The tail seems huge. It should have a good stability, even with a contra.

Agreed....."huge" would be the correct technical term for the rudder, but somehow, he makes it work visually. Still saying, this is a really nice design and I predict it will be copied for sure. Perhaps it will usher in a new generation of simple, attractive and effective designs.

Agreed, the clear canopy with detailed pilot figure is much better. However, it's also "clear" that in this configuration, that pilot's feet would be cooked wrapped around that Lycoming's headers.
