Default Axi 5320 problems...

I am testing a new power system based on an AXI5320/28 and an el-cheapo 100 amp ESC (by himodel in China) From time to time if I let the motor stop, it would not pickup RPM but sort of misfire and speed up very slowly. The cure is to cycle the throttle from idle to full speed a couple of times and then transition goes back to normal. Any clue what could be wrong? I can change the timing of the ESC from 0 to 30deg but it only adds more RPM/amps at full throttle, I also tried the acceleration settings, throttle curve, timing monitor, and PWM frequency...

If you have tried all that you say and have not improved the performance, it sounds like you should try a new ESC. For the 5320/28 you really don't need any more than a 77amp controller. I would suggest trying a Jeti or a Castle.

You might try using an idle I have had similar problems using a break with the CC 85HV.

Good point Steve, even with an ESC that is working properly, letting the motor stop sometimes makes getting the motor started again difficult. Doesn't happen too often to me, but I've seen it. I set up the idle to a slider and set an idle just as you mentioned and never have the motor stop until after I land. Even so though, when I bring up the throttle to taxi back the motor still comes up to power smoothly, just at a higher throttle setting.

Does the ESC work without issue if you don't allow it to stop? If so, the setting an idle would fix it. I believe some of the earlier model ESCs of one brand had an issue where you had to 'hand prop' the motor to get started, but once it started it worked fine. Could be just a glitch in the programming.

It happens every time you turn on the system, and if I let the motor stop. Otherwise it works great. I thought there may be a combination of paramaters that could make the thing work (i.e. hard acceleration with high timing or something like that) since I've played with some parameters but I haven't hit all the combinations. I have some three or four 2200 3S packs, I am purchasing a couple more to try 9S2P. I will give it a try in an older Genesis I have lying around. I only fly advanced and I hope it will be enough. If it doesn't work I guess it will end up in a smaller (120?) sized plane or a scale job.
