I have never seen anyone mention using one of these in a pattern plane. Any reason for that??

Its a little big for pattern, most of the controllers are 80-120g.

True enough. The fan kind of puts it over the top!!  I had one I used in a big electric race boat. Worked nicely. You can take the fan off if you want to and that would save a lot of weight.

Yeah,
You can afford it...  Your plane could stand to gain some weight as well.  If you scale is correct you could add two of those things with the fans on and still have room to spare.

I checked the scale and it is accurate!! Now I'm worried about being too light!!!
