Servo Advice for a e-50 pattern plane
Looking for advice on some quality servos for a angle evo e-50 plane. Standard size will fit but am open to small also.I do have jr 8231 and 3421 on hand if they will work.
Thanks Mike |
Those servos should work fine. As with any plane, the servos are your link to the plane, so going with better servos, will make it fly better. You don't necessarily need the latest and greatest servo, but you certainly want some good quality servos so those should work fine.

Thanks for the replies guys, not sure I can Graupner in the states. Arch, what about futaba s9150 servos?

Mike, I had an Angel 50 several years ago. I think I used JR 9411's on aileron and elevator and an 8411 on rudder. You definitely could use the 3421's on ailerons and the 8231 on rudder or elevator.

I see no reason to have anything larger than a mini servo on the rudder of an airplane that size. An 8321 is a fantastic servo, but useless in that application unless you just need the weight. If it makes you feel better, a 9411 would have a little stronger gear train with it being a larger servo. My Axiome 70 has DS3517s on the elevator and ailerons and a DS3421 on the rudder. Once this white crap stops falling, I'll get out and fly it.

You would have big problems fitting an S9150 in the wings of an airplane with built-up wings. The ribs are often doubled up on each side of the servo box, so you would have to uncover a couple of rib bays just to put that servo in. I would go with a 9550 if you wanted a larger servo, or preferably an S9650 (or BLS equivalent).
