Default Servo Advice for a e-50 pattern plane

Looking for advice on some quality servos for a angle evo e-50 plane. Standard size will fit but am open to small also.I do have jr 8231 and 3421 on hand if they will work.
Thanks Mike

Those servos should work fine. As with any plane, the servos are your link to the plane, so going with better servos, will make it fly better. You don't necessarily need the latest and greatest servo, but you certainly want some good quality servos so those should work fine.

SebArt Wind S 50E.
Two seasons P13 with:
ailerons: 2 x Graupner DES 658 BB MG mini digital servo with metal gear
elevator: 2 x Graupner DES 657 BB mini digital servo with carbonite gear
rudder: 1 x Graupner DES 804 BB standard digital servo with carbonite gear
Good accuracy, low consumption and weight.

Greats, Sergey

Mike, I had an Angel 50 several years ago. I think I used JR 9411's on aileron and elevator and an 8411 on rudder. You definitely could use the 3421's on ailerons and the 8231 on rudder or elevator.

The only issue with the 9150's is that they are an odd shape. Many of those planes have the aileron holes already cut and the 9150 is not very deep, but it is very wide, so you may have to make some major modifications, not just slightly enlarging the hole. They were designed for thin wings and it is best if the plane is designed for them. They would certainly work, but would take more work to make them fit most likely. I ran them, and the 9154 (same servo, different gear ratio to make them faster) for years in my Black Magic.

I see no reason to have anything larger than a mini servo on the rudder of an airplane that size. An 8321 is a fantastic servo, but useless in that application unless you just need the weight. If it makes you feel better, a 9411 would have a little stronger gear train with it being a larger servo. My Axiome 70 has DS3517s on the elevator and ailerons and a DS3421 on the rudder. Once this white crap stops falling, I'll get out and fly it.

You would have big problems fitting an S9150 in the wings of an airplane with built-up wings. The ribs are often doubled up on each side of the servo box, so you would have to uncover a couple of rib bays just to put that servo in. I would go with a 9550 if you wanted a larger servo, or preferably an S9650 (or BLS equivalent).
