Piccoboard problems

I bought the fun piccolo and the kit of parts to get it flying, no problems except the piccoboard plus. The receiver part wouldn't work right. All that would happen was the servos would be very jittery and zip from side to side. I tried using a 4.8volt receiver pack to power it and the same thing happens, even with the transmitter off the same thing happens. The xtal I got with it is a Hitec single conversion and swapping it out with the one in the feather in my electric palne shows it's fine. Having the transmitter on or off makes absolutly no difference.
Well I sent it back and got another picco board, this one happens to be the pro version. This one didn't come with the plug and play connectors so it took some doing to get it set up and this one has the same problem.
I can substitute the reciever on the picco board for a regular receiver and the other half(the motor controllers and gyro) work fine.
I tried to simulate the problem with the feather receiver in my plane by removing the xtal and turning off the transmitter but could not duplicate it.
Any ideas? Is the hitec single conversion xtal the right one to use?

I am having the exact same experience. I have posted the problem on the Ikarus forum but so far no help there. I am waiting to hear from the place I purchased it from.
Also, the piccoboard arrived in a package marked JR and the shift jumper in the Futaba position. I have tried using both pos and neg shift transmitter and receiver jumper settings. When the piccoboard jumper is put into the JR position nothing happens (no jitter and no LED light).

I ended up sending the whole thing back to Aero FX an he said the second piccoboard was also bad and put a third one in that worked with his crystal and transmitter, but on a different freq. When I got it back it still didn't work so I bought a GWS receiver and put it in and it flies..... Don't know what the problem was...

Guys, I had the same problem when trying to use any crystal other than Ikarus. There just aren't any good standards when it comes to our hobby. The only solution I can offer is to have your local hobby shop order an Ikarus Rx crystal.

Hi all.......
My friend bought mine piccolo, and on my radio the Helli was fine, but when we put on his futaba radio it did not work, the problem was as you all have seen .
At the hobby store they switch from ppm to pcm (or otherwise)
and it came out fine.
try it and see, maybe it works on yours.

I had problems with the board in my skylark which is just a copy of the piccoboard.
I have since gone over to separates and with the power of hindsight should have started that way.
Get a Heading hold gyro like the CSM LW 200 Gyro, any 2 cheap speed controllers like the GWS 50 & 100, a GWS receiver of your choice and your on your way.
