Hornet tail rotor set-up

Okay guys,
I have a question for all of you on the hornet tail rotor set-up. This is a hornet (original) not hornet2 with a CP upgrade.
According to my badly printed manual it looks like the tail rotors should have a distance of 38mm between them, when the tail horn (the lever that fixes to the tail gearbox housing and links the tail servo pushrod to the tail pitch changing bearing, it probably has a proper name, but I don't know it!) is at 90 degrees to the tail boom. I have set my model up like that. My problem is that this horn can now be pushed backward a long way (around 10 to 12mm), but can only come forward 1 or 2mm before the pitch bearing hits the tail gearbox housing. From the diagrams in the manual it seems that the pitch horn should be perpendicular to the tail (for the neutral./central position) and move equal amounts forward and backwards? Is this a misprint or have I got something wrong in my assembly of the heli? I have double and triple checked everything but cannot find any error. The problem is that I have very little control to move the tail counter clockwise (the servo moves the horn 1mm then the pitch bearing hits the gearbox and can go no further).
As I mentioned earlier, the manual print is very bad, can someone confirm that the distace between the tail blades is 38m as it could also be 30mm, with the bad print I cannot make out if its a 8 or a 0. I tried with 30mm and the tail just spun around in a clockwise direction, so 38mm seems to work but may not be correct. I hope to measure the main rotor speed soon, but at the minute I am not happy with the tail set-up.
The movement of the tail horn seems very non-linear, so I was thinking of setting the neutral position of the tail horn a few mm further back than shown in the manual, but wanted to get a second opinion before doing this.

I have the same Helicopter and the same Crappy Manual, IT'S 30mm, I put that Section of the Manual under a High powered Microscope to make sure it was a 0 NOT AN 8. I feel like a Forensic Scientist looking for Clues here........[:'(] Anyway whatever the manual Says FORGET IT! ON ANY HELICOPTER YOU SHOULD HAVE EQUAL MOVEMENT IN BOTH DIRECTIONS, THEN CENTER NEUTRAL! AND NO MECHANICAL SLOP, The Control Rod and control horn should be tight as a virgin, but Freely move when the servo needs to move it without any binding...........
Your Whole Problem sounds like you can't get enought positive Tail rotor pitch to counter act the Main Rotor Tourqe.
The tail rotor needs more movement or more positive pitch to bite the air and hold that heli in place! Somewhere in the linkage your tail rotor is being short changed and cheated.........[&:]
In short, I think because your linkage is not giving the tail rotor equal Positive and Negative Pitch Movement, Your not able to get enough positive Pitch on those Tail rotors! If its not going to be even for some reason, then at least set it up so your heli has more Positive pitch and less negative, I think you got the Opposite right now, But they should really be evenly set up 50% Pos / 50% Neg .......[X(]
