Dragonfly/tailrotor/help
Hi all. I have a new GWS Dragonfly that I just built, but I have a problem.
All of the controls work ok, except for the tail rotor. The tail rotor is at half throttle when the left horizontal stick is at half throttle. It goes off completely when I move the stick to the left, and full speed when I move the stick to the right.
I'm using two speed controllers, the GWS 100 and 50. I cut the middle red wire on the 50. I have a futaba gy240 gyro, but the tail rotor acts the same way with and without the gyro plugged in.
I hope this makes sense.
Thank you,
Villious

RE: Dragonfly/tailrotor/help
totally normal when there isn't a mixer. The std kit comes with some form of mixer. If the tail channel on the Tx is half way the signal is delivered to the tail ESC unaltered by a mixer.
Just one of the trade off's of having separates with a HH gyro.
GY240 will take care of things during flight but won't make the tail motor stop when you are on the ground.
Just set the trim for the tail to get the tail ESC to run a bit slower if you find the heli tries to move when the main throttle is zero. Unplug the heli battery after you have done this to reset the neutral position for the GY240.
