Will any ESC work for an electric heli?

Ive got an E-flight 30A ESC with brake and called them and they say they "think" it will work for an E-heli. I want to know if I can use this on a Shogun. Thanks for any info

The brake is not desireable. It causes broken teeth on the main gear. If you can disable the brake function, you are good to go.

I have heard you need a "high resolution" ESC for helis. I'm not sure what yours is. I just thought I ought let you know.
