Default Piccolo Pro 3d Setup

Hi,
Can someone post pitch/throttle settings for 3d mode for a Pic Pro? I'm returning to helis after about a 6 year break, and would like to get a "ballpark" idea of where to start. I've completely upgraded the heli to all-aluminum head, swashplate, collective slider, and just put on some new symmetrical (Pic Pro) blades. (Hopefully everything else will come back to me quickly...)

Also - is anyone brave enough to auto a Pic Pro? I used to love taking my Shuttle Zxx out on really windy days, and doing 1 auto after another....I"m just afraid that wit the smaller, lighter blades that the margin for error is much higher....boom strikes are no fun! Can you also post starting Auto settings as well?

For throttle settings, give me percentages, for pitch, give me degrees....this way it doesn't matter what radios we all have. BTW - I'm using an older JR 347 PCM in PPM mode for the little receiver. Do they make PCM that small - and is it still as "important" to use PCM now that technology has advanced so much?

Thanks everyone!
Mark

what are you using for power on that? since you have upgraded everything else, are you running brushless and lipo? I would HIGHLY recommend it!

autos... I've tried a couple with mine, not very successful so far, but I'm also using smaller, lighter hornet blades. the rpm just drops much too fast, it isn't an auto, just a slighter slower then 9.8 m/s crash!

as far as curves, I run governor mode at 85% so I don't have a curve. (0-85-85-85-85), but I use the full pitch range of the slider, with about a 0-35-65-85-100 curve.

rx's... interference really isn't a problem at the range you fly a pic at, most use the very light single conversion rx's, any extra weight is performance, and the weight of a dual conversion is just unnecessary. if you do have problems, the berg dsp rx will outperform full size dual conversion rx's in many instances.

Hi,
Wow! Governor??? I guess I've been out for a while...last time I flew, I had a gyro with moving parts in it!

Yes, I'm running a hacker brushless, and using a Kokam 11.1v 1500mAh (well, starting later today) -- I've been just trying to get it setup using a 9.6v 750mAh. I bought it used, and it needed work. The weight doesn't change between the 2 packs, but I'll have some more voltage, of course.

I just built a set of symmetrical Pro blades, and balanced the entire head. And I bought a micro pitch gauge from JMP - so I'm trying to take out some of the guesswork for pitch.

What RPM range should I be running with the Helihobby 3d Alum. head? It says on the site that it handles between 2000-3000 but that seems pretty high. I'll use the entire range of the slider, and for 3d mode, I'll just set the pitch at 0 at center stick and see how that goes.

I'm using a GWS receiver, and it seems to work fine (in the living room, at least).

Question: What upgrades did you end up putting on your heli? I started out with the aluminum bearing holder because I didn't like chasing them (I had radio setup issues at first with the new HH gyros and tipped a few times)...so that worked well for a bit...then the plastic slider broke, so I replaced that with alum. (HeliHobby)....then the head started to pop off while in a hover, and I didn't have good swashplate movement, so I added the alum. swashplate...but the head kept popping off, even a new one, but there was no binding on the collective...so I finally went to the alum. head. (Should've just bought the whole assembly for $160 - but no, I was cheap and spent a LOT more!).

Anyway, any other hints you can throw my way would be great -- I don't know anyone else in the Palm Beach, Fl. area flying helis, so I'm on my own...

Thanks!
Mark

I used to run a headspeed of 2400 upwards on a PMP head, tried the HH one it was junk in comparison.

I had every upgrade i could lay my hands on in the end, all of them PMP they are far better then the HH parts, see Runryder and the Ikarus forum if you want to read peoples thoughts on them.

If you want the best tips on set up flying for the Pic Pro go check out the ikarus forum it has more pure Piccolo info than on a more generic forum like this one.

My best piece of advice for upgrades.... Buy a hornet 2
