Default Speed control Help!!!!!!

Hey Fellas. Well my Motor and speed control setup is not working. I mean it is not working at all. It is becomeing more and more frustrating. Right now I have a MEGA 16/7/10 with a castle creations 25 speed control. So far in the past two days I have gone through 3 speed controls. Two of which caught on fire. I fly a TREX with an external BEC. I am also running a 5S 1450 battery pack. For some reason I keep burning up the speed control. I know that the 25 is good for 25amps. But I'm running higher voltage. This should bring the Amps down. Why am I catching these speed controls on Fire. If you have any good advice for me I would really appreciate it.

Wow. Do you have access to a watt meter? That would be my first place to look.
What do the specs on that motor say as far as current at that voltage?
What pinion are you using?
Did it fail in flight, or just spooling up?

It failed spinning up. Its strange because i'm running a CC25. But I have disabled the BEC and am running one externally. I have never had this much trouble out of speed controls. I have had two literaly burn up and one went out. The 25 Just does not seem to be wroth anything. My TREX flys great. But I just don't know how much I enjoy messen with an electric heli. But anyway I really don't know whats going on right now. The heli should not be overly stiff. the gear lash has been set and all of the ball bearings are in good working order. but thanks for the idea.

V=IR so higher voltage gives you higher current and heat.

V=IR is true but im surprised it went on spool-up, and not at max throttle.

Dosn't your ESC have a built in current limit protection. My phoenix-45 has 4 settings. The 4th disables the protection.

I just ordered a package from Heliproz and it comes with the 35 amp esc. could it be with that motor the 25 amp is just not large enough? This was the TREX with the brushless upgrade and the 1500 KOKAM battery.

Hey he said it's a 5s batt so 18.5V, say close to 20V when fully charged. Assuming high frequency switching at spool up, there goes your esc.

20 volts should be ok for a 25 so spool-up shouldnt burn it out, are you using BEC?

Hey I think the instruction manual of the CCP25 esc only says 2,3,4 cell Lipo and not 5...
