Default T-Rex 450 - Post your setup here and comments

Hi !!! I just bought a T-Rex 450X V2 and I need some advice for the setup (3D setup)

I will use:

4 Hitec's HS-55 servos
Hitec Electron 6 channel
Phoenix 25 ESC
TP 3s 2100 mah
GY 401
Futaba 8UHPS

For the motor I'm thinking in the WARP4-3T or should I use the 4T ?

The WARP4 is a good choice for 3D? Does is fit the T-Rex mounting?

Please post comments and your setupo below for the T-Rex and give me some advices !!!

Thanks in advance for all !!!!

Where you gonna use the Align 9g?

Can I use the HS-55 all over the heli? even collect and tail?

What about the motor? I'm thinking in the WARP4 3 or 4T ?

Does the Align 400LF 3200KV will provide enought power for 3D?

Thanks in advance

Im getting my t-rex very soon. Here will be my set up:
multiplex 480-4d
cc 35amp esc
hs55 and hs50(tail)
futaba 7ch
futaba pcm reciever
tp 2100

Satkunas--As fas as hs55 all around, you can dso that. Usually you want more speed on the tail , so many ppl run the hs 50 on it.

Nitro, the HS-50 can handle the tail? I mean, I know that the 50's has more speed, but waht about the torque? Don't I need some torque for the tail also?

Thanks in advance

HS55 will do just fine on the tail.. I've seen people use HS56s as well. Advantages? Cheaper, more sturdy.. Disadvantages? Slower piro rate (which is still more then you'll ever need) unless u're looking for 10revs/s (exaggeration). I'd recommend getting rid of your Align 9g servo since it gave me twitchy tail... also, if you go from HS50 to HS55 (or 56) you will have to adjust your gain. Mine went from ~60% to ~83% in HH mode on an Eclipse 7.

"Does the Align 400LF 3200KV will provide enought power for 3D? "
No.. the Align motor will do just fine for simple hovering, FF, circuits, etc... but for serious 3D I'd go with something else.. search the forums for other ppls opinions/setups as those vary from one to another. Also, make sure your ESC can handle at least 35A if doing 3D.

OK this is my TRex as it sits in the other room now. I have bits on back order and I will add them to the list as they arrive.

Align TRex 450X
Align 11.1V 1800mAh battery
Align 400LF Brushless motor
Align 25A Brushless ESC
Robbe G-200 Gyro
Align RC-Rx6M Reciever
Align RC-9X Servo's
Align Super Micro servo (tail)
Align V2 ally Swashplate
Align ally Flybar Control levers
Align ally Flybar Control set
Align ally Flybar
Align ally Main Rotor Head
Align ally Blade Grips
Align ally Mixing Arms
CF look Tail Blades
CF look Flybar Paddles
The new 'improved' Main Gear (one with cooling fins).
Custom Paint job
JR X-347 Tx.

Headspeed governed 2200rpm
Pitch Normal linear 0 to +11
........Idle 1 linear -5 to +11
........Idle 2 linear -11 to +11

I think thats it. As I said I have more bits on back order so I hope to be able to add some more soon.
I'm also having trouble with my heli during hard moves, struggling to maintain the governed headspeed so there could be a new motor, esc and a kokam 2100 coming home soon.

Thanks for the Replies..........

Ichibon_KoKojin How many amps the Mega is delivering?

About the motor, Do you think the Mega 16/15/3 is the way to go with a Phoenix 35? Or maybe the WARP4-3T or Align 420LF 3200kv?

I'd like to have a real 3D machine, so the motor is the heart of it !!!

Thanks for all

got hooked with a dragonfly 36 and now i am ready to take the plunge and get a trex. i am looking at the "dream package that is almost at the bottom of this page.(http://www.helihobby.com/html/trex_helicopter.html) does it look good? is there any changes you'd make to the package. let me know. won't be getting it till tax time. (huge refund this year) i just got tired of waiting 2 weeks for parts and having a crappy heli after working on it so hard. very poor quality to start with.ready for a real piece of art/machinery.

I too started with the 36, the Trex is a jump forward in my opinion. The 36 taught me well and all the replacement gear went directly into the 450x. I'm 48yrs old, so the bright neon colors really help me with orientation.. [8D]

the Reflex XTR makes rainy days almost a good thing... hehe

Rotorworkz G4 frame
Heliworkz elevated tail
Mega 16/15/3 w/ CC25
3xHS56
HS81 tail (fast and torquey)
GY401
ProLite2100
SombraLabs Shadow 3 (DSP and crystalless)

Heliworkz frame, HV frame, Align CF frame
I use a lot of different motors, gyros, ESC's and whatever else just to see how well they work and to keep from being bored. There are two other Rex's that aren't being shared yet, one is a 2 blade flybarless and the other a 3 blade system.

Hi all.
I have just finished putting together my t-rex 450x. I am now in the stage of test flying it. I have ran into a bit of trouble though. As i power up and get to about 1/4 throttle it starts to spin round like i haven't got enough yaw set in. I have tried different setting on the tail but i just seem to run out of movement for the tail. Does any one know how I could fix this. Please email me and let me know.

Thanks

Hi,

I'm just putting together a basic T-REX 450 using parts from my crashed Walkera #60 (nothing wrong with the #60, just difficult to get parts). The first time is spun it up, my T-Rex did the same as yours - this was a warning sign that the belt pulley at the fuselage end was about to go. The top of the pulley was working it's way off and allowing the spindle to turn without the pulley. It evenually fell off, together with the belt - lucky I was on the ground. This seems to be a weak spot, and Ive ordered the metal upgrade in the hope that it will be cured. If it's not that, then the Walkera had the same problem, but this time it was just the gyro reversing switch needed to be set to 'reverse'.

Hi, I have had my t-rex se set up to fly in normal mode from a guy that I met at a local fun fly meet. Ever since then I never have figured out how to set it up in the transmitter to fly in 3d mode. Can anyone tell me or point me toward a forum of how to set up the transmitter compter and helicopter to fly in 3d and upside down?
I have the t-rex 450se and the spektrum dx7 (heli edition).

Thanks
David
