hi.
im planning on getting a brushless motor for my dragonfly 36(hoping it will take off for once)
but to be really sure i want to give the heli that little extra..
the motor im ment to get is a 3200rpm walkera brushless
but i want to get an rc-smart 4980rpm brushless
they are same size but will the Rc-smart motor work with the walkera esc?
if not... then will the rc-smart esc work on my dragonfly 36?
Thanks in advance.

rc-smart and walkera motors, they're all the same. By the looks of it, all these items you see online and ebay, they're all made by the same company and just rebranded by their sellers/distributors.
"RC-Smart" is nothing but a re-branding.
You can find alot of the same motors and speed controllers under various names
RC-Smart, E-power, Tower Pro, Electric Power, etc.
Just about all modern brushless esc's and motors should work with eachother unless you're trying to combine sensored and sensorless (which there is few of now anyways, just about everything is sensorless now).

Well, my Walkera ESC wouldn't drive my Align 420LF. Anything past a low idle, it just died.... And the motor started making funny sounds and missing.

You can get a combo brushless (3200kv, 30A esc) now for about $34 bucks on Ebay! Even with shipping, it's still less than $50 dollars.
I have two set now, one for the Rex and another for the #36.

The 3200kv motor works very well. I get lots of climb-out from it. The #36 is a lot lighter than the Rex. I'm flying only slow circuit, nothing 3D, though.
I have a 2200 mah walkera and also a 1800 mah 3-cell. Both batteries are, I think, rated at 8C with burst of 12C~15C. I am charging with the walkera charger. It works, but I think an Aligh smart lipo charger will work better, especially with batteries that have taps for balancing the cells.

ORIGINAL: oops
Eh? Does your Rex axtually fly with one of those?
I would have thought them a little underpowered...
How do you find it?

It actually flies, but I'm not doing any 3D things.
I found it here http://cgi.ebay.com/WALKERA-30A-3200...QQcmdZViewItem
With the Chinese seller flooding the market, I wouldn't be surprised if the price goes down even further.

Unfortunately, I got mine after noticing the $34 ad. I paid $48 for mine. Mine came everything packed in a nice box with fram padding. Also came with 11-tooth pinion gear attached. It tooked about 4 days.

I've never really found much problem with the chinese products. Cheaper build quality than some others, but they seem to work pretty well most of the time. I'm planning on getting one of those cheap $19 outrunners for one of my foamie planes.
