Default newbie; trex setup

i have been reading the forum for about a month and have been tossed around with different peoples opinions about what to buy. i finally said screw it and decided that i will be buying a trex 450xl cde

yesterday i bought a hitec optic 6 w/spectra and their 8ch rx (i dont know if its suitable for the rex) to play with on the sim untill i finally descide what to buy

i think i will go with the pheonix 25 with the Mega 16/15/3, hitec hs-55 servos (not sure on tail servo) definatly a futaba gyro (201/401 unsure)
what battery and pinion would be good for this

the manual for the spectra was a little confusing because i was seeing all the terms for a nitro. what would be a good learner setup and finally if in mode 2 the left stick does throttle and rudder what does collective (i thought cp was supposed to have constant throttle)

13T pinion w/ the mega motor.

thunderpower prolites are probably the best battery you can get.
i heard the best/economical lipos are the Apex2200's at $45 a pop.

Ram,
The throttle and collective are on the same stick. You'll proabably have to check your manual to see where to plug in the servos to get your mixing.

1)you setup the ESC to utilize governor mode
2)your throtle curve will be like a straight line (y=#) or a "V" if youre advanced. where the constant is the throtle point at which your mainblades are spinning at 2200-2800rpm under load.
3)in governor mode, throtle points on the curve/stick no longer represent throtle percent. they represent a set blade rpm that you want to run. Only your ESC directly controls the throtle to keep the rotor rpm constant.

however you have a curve to customize things. perhaps you want it to have full throtle and full pitch at the end of the sticks if you plan on doing 3d. so it doesnt have to be a straight line.

pitch curve can be customized so you have liftoff at a certain point on the stick. for example, i keep my left stick at half because that represents 0degrees pitch. top represents full +10 degrees. and 3/4stick represents hovering pitch.

the bottom half of the stick is for negative pitch. autorotations, inverted, rolls, loops, etc.

i have a video showing basically how i have mine setup. (6megs and putfile is pretty slow so you might have to wait)
http://media.putfile.com/soft-start-idle-up

softstart spools my heli up by itself to the preset rpm (at the flick of the idle up switch) then it's good to go (i flick the collective a little to make it jump). gy240/401 is the best, i give no rudder inputs not like it's in the air for long though.

i modified my order, ditched the big rx that came with the optic tx and got the electron 6 as well as ordered 3-hs56 and 1-hs50

is the optional align ecs that comes in the kit from helihoby the govenor version or not?
i am ordering it backwards because i can play with the guts before i get the heli
