BLADE CP ACRO
I wanted to start a thread to discuss acro with the Blade CP. I am running the aerobatic upgrade kit motor with carbon blades, and a 900mah 3 cell thunder power pack----this setup just barely has enough umph to do rolls, and the one loop I pulled off was way ugly....any tips? JB

OUTSIDE LOOPS Pice off Cake!!
Rolls Lt/Rt Hard over till 180% pull Collective in 3d mode to mid stick "DONT BE SCARED" untill rt side up again, go back to + pitch "HIGH THR", WOOOOW. U don't have to over do it, rolls will be axle.
REMEMBER INVERTED=EVERYTHINGS BACKWARDS
Height=RECOVERY!

It's not my video but this guy is good

Compared to his video mine sucks but I did manage to loop and roll mine before I got the B/H upgrade.

I'm STILL waiting for nicer weather to test out the new head on my heli. I can't wait. I'm hoping mine does all the stuff his does just as well. I'll make sure to get a video when I do it.

Thanks Fifthoffour--using much less negative collective has made the loops/rolls really come around....Now I think it may be time to try one of those plastic Bell upgrade heads. Jeff B

Honestly the best thing you can do is get a simulator and try it on the sim first so you have an idea what types of stick movements will be required. None of the sims will simulate the blade accurately so just pick any one of them.

It is amazing how small helis have advanced----I started in 86' on a GMP Cricket with NO tail gyro(pretty common back in the early 80's) I would work on the Cricket about 2 hours for every 5 min. of flight time, then something would break!!(mech. failure) Just picked up the Bell Mixer at the hobby shop so tommorow we shall go for it. RE: BLADE CP ACRO
jeff, I installed a motor with the 10T pinion and that helped a lot with the power. I also run the TP900. I can loop, roll and whatnot. with the 9T pinion I could just barely get off the ground once I installed the Bell mixers. - makes me want to do the brushless conversion with the Himax 2015/3600...

RE: BLADE CP ACRO
What pinion would you use with a brushless? I'm going to convert my HB CP2 to a brushless and I don't know what pinion to get 9 or 10 tooth...

RE: BLADE CP ACRO
I wonder how long the stock 10T pinion motor would last with a 900mah TP batt? I know the Blade manual says you will burn out the motor--------but when? JB

RE: BLADE CP ACRO
Well, it lasted longer than the mainframe on mine[8D]. I flew it in too much wind in the parking lot at work. It got away from me so I dumped it before hitting a car.
Anyway, I have flown it about a dozen times before that with a TP3120 and TP900. The TP1320 makes it a bit too heavy for me to comfortably do acro stuff, but it flies nice. the TP900 lets me do acro nicely. I'd like to try a 600 size TP to drop more weight.
Anyway, the 10T main motor never got hot to the touch, just acceptibly warm. I run two of the E-flite heat sinks on the main motor. I also cut a hole in the canopy just above the heat sinks and where the battery "vents" are. This helps keep air moving around the heli.
Of course the good temp may be the wonderful Nebraska weather in February

RE: BLADE CP ACRO
I have the Bell Hiller, blue swashplate, and carbon blades on and am experiencing a lack of lift. It seems that I am almost to the top of the cyclic. Has anyone had this same problem and if so how have you fixed it? Also I have used a pitch gage to put the blades @ o degrees when in idle up and @ full neutral on the cyclic aswell. Just curious as to why the loss of lift.

RE: BLADE CP ACRO
A friend of mine has the pitch gauge, but we never use it. I just keep on adjusting the pitch link arms until there is enough positve collective to make me comfortable.----It is a trade off between rotor RPM and pos. collective. JB
