Main Rotor Blades: Wood or CF?
What can you tell me about the differences between wood and carbon fiber rotor blades?
Is one generally better than the other?
Are the flight characteristics different, lift, 3D ability etc.?
Anything would be helpful as I nothing other than one is wood and the other is carbon fiber.
Thanks.

RE: Main Rotor Blades: Wood or CF?
Wood blades are only so strong. Carbon fiber blades are much stronger. On a Raptor 50, for example, 600MM wood blades can be safely run at a head speed of 1700 RPM, carbon Fiber blades of the same size, 2000 RPMs. Different manufacturer's make blades slightly different than the other manufacturers. Some might be wider, some might have a bigger air foil, some have a different shape on the end. There's topics all about them. For instance, I've run SAB 600MM CF blades, and they're wider than the Maverick 600MM blades I run. They perform a little different. I've also crashed with woodies and they're break like toothpicks, I've crashed with CF blades and sometimes they come out without a scratch. The main differece between wood and carbon fiber is their strength and performance, they typically do generate better lift.
