Default Copter X 500

Copter X 500.

It came in a small box 16 x 6.5 x 4 inches.
quite small for something that is suppose to be larger than the 450

Inside the box are three small boxes that housed the Helis parts.
frame, head, tail etc...

all were placed in plastic bags containing the screws required to build per bag, although most of the parts are already assembled. ( frame, Head and tail )

The CX 500 main frame is Silver CF, simililar with the Align silver frames. even the weave of the cloth used seems identical and texture is smooth and nicely cut.

On the frame bag. it contained the servo mount brackets and the antirotation bar.
It was a little tricky to get the correct orientation of the brackets. lucky i got it on the first try.

The battery mounting plate is longer and was already bolted in the frame.

After buiding the frame the next was the Head.
The CX500 head is no different from its smaller brother the V2 but it was kinda mix of the V1 and V2 as for the blade grips came from the V1 design but the main rotor housing was the V2 design.
Head parts of the CX 500 seems to share with the V2 head design and is interchangeable.

a little thing I noticed is that Copter X already made labels on their parts so the head has a copter X logo on the main rotor housing.

The main gear on the CX500 is the same as the V2 gear. No changes there.
Sliding in the head was simple although the main shaft of the CX500 is longer as
there are 3 shaft bearings that hold the assembly.

Next to build was the tail assembly. The CX500 tail is the same size as the 450. the design is a mix of the V2 and V1. The pitch slider L arm has 2 joints similar to the first V1 design. but the slider arm blade holder and hub are all V2. I guess the single link found on the V2 tail had some slop. but going back to the original V1 design, I am not sure what the advantage is as this was already replaced or modified to the V2.

The CX500 tail boom is 15 inch long. compared to the 450boom I guess this is what made it to a 500 class heli. The longer boom can now accomodate longer main blades.

The tail boom holder is taken from the Copter X 450SE V2. but with the addition of the logo.

Next to build is the skids.

The CX500 skids seems to look weird. kinda strange and small... not only small but tall... Looking at it reminded me of the century hummingbird elite.

Next was the Flybar and Paddles.

The CX500 had a 250mm flybar. The head had temporary screws on the flybar cage. all you have to do is to loosen the grub screw and remove the temporary screws and replace them with the Flybar. It was simple to assemble as it was no different from the previous 450SE heli.
The only new thing on the flybar bag was the paddles. Copter X replace the standard bolt in plastic paddles with threaded bolt in metal slugs with grubscrew. The paddles are more safer now as it will be very hard to pull out the paddle from the flybar.

.

well basically the build is semi finish. all that is left are the electronics. The good thing with the CX500 is the use of small servos. HS65's. will fit the servo mounts for cyclics. ugrading from a CX450 to a CX500 will only share the same electrics.

Hi sonebee
So this coptex 500 is not like the align trex500.
It is a stretched 450.
So will it take a bigger motor and bigger batteries?
What size blades will it take? The align uses lepton/3dx500 425 mm blades.

So they make the sixre of electric heli even more confusing - their 500 is much smaller than other 500's but 500 is meaningless anyway as it is nothing to do with the motor, ampage, volts, or blade size!

Yeah, it looks way different from trex500, and the size is much smaller too. I was hoping for a trex500 clone, just like what they did with the 450s.

Wow, this heli's not what I expected at all. I thought it was going to be closer to a lepton or t-rex 500 clone. I know this heli's longer but it still looks like a 450 to me.

It's like the black Hawk 500. A pretend 500, or a 450 with a little longer tail boom.

the frame from ehirobo is carbon fiber. the frame from the pics above is fiberglass. carbon fiber is stronger and lighter. so the frame from ehirobo is the better frame.

Ok be it carbon fiber , fiber glass still dont mean or justify the different look and the size.

The copter x 500 on the erhirbo site looks wayy different than the one shown here.

Soneebee where did you purchase your chopper and what are the specs ?
