I accidentally shorted the LiPo battery by turning up side down and plugged the balancer plug on the Smart LiPo balancer. I saw tiny sparks and heard slight noise. How did that happened? Is it because the power was on from the Smart Lipo balancer? Did the shorted damages the Lipo battery and may catches fire? When I charged the Lipo, I heard slight popping sounds. I was thinking the wrapper was loose, or the battery was ballooning. Should the battery gets hot immediately when ballooning?

Battery should not get hot & should not ballon at all when charging. If your getting either I'd discontinue use of the battery. & replace it. Better to be safe then sorry

Ive gotten some slight balooning when discharging (in the heli, so high draw), nothing concerning, it always returns to normal when it cools, and its got 20-30 uses on it like this, so no long term affects at this point. but it does not even get warm when charging, no ballooning for sure. what amps are you charging at?

I charged it exactly 1C. The Lipo is 3 cell 2200 mAh. I charged it at 2.2 amp. What I just don't understand is when I monitored the Smart Balancer, the amp rating went up to 2.3 amp and then back to normal. I have charged four Lipos about every day and had no problems until I accidentally shorted one. I wish the companies make safer Lipos. One slight accident can damages the Lipo or catches fire,
