elevated tail rotor
1 Attachment(s)
Hello! I've been reading this board for a while and thought I should share my elevated tail rotor mod. It's just some rubber tubing heated into the curve I wanted and the boom pieces are just friction fit into it. Just sharing a fun idea.

Hi all
This is my Version 3 Elevated Tail Rotor. Anyone can guess what material is it for my Vertical and Horizontal Fin/Stabilizer? Hehe. Super-Hornet |
RE: elevated tail rotor
What do you gain by doing this????
|
RE: elevated tail rotor
from what I've read it gets the TR out of the downwash of the mains, and keeps the TR from hitting the ground........

RE: elevated tail rotor
The benifits are just what crazhorse mentioned but, the other feature I've found is since it's rubber tubing it's slightly flexable at the angle. A crash that is boom first, gets deflected. Plus...it looks cool....:D

RE: elevated tail rotor

RE: elevated tail rotor
Hi JZGOON
The brushless tail motor is from CDROM motor. I rewind it with 10 Turns per pole. I use Castle Creations PHX-10. U can build your own Brushless controller but I would say the task is time consuming and not worth the time and money. I recommend just buy it. Oh... One thing for sure is that elevated tail rotor will prevent (Or just reduce) the tail rotor from hitting the ground if u land tail section first. In real helicopter, UH-01 (Huey), UH-60 (Blackhawk), Apache, SeaHawk, and many more are Elevated Tail Rotor. Super-Hornet |
RE: elevated tail rotor
cool!!
what about for the main motor, does it have enough power for that? or do you need a bigger/stronger motor? |
RE: elevated tail rotor
i know, if you want to put a huey, / cobra / apache shell on it, they all use elavatet TR's
