Highest voltage for blade cp electronics?
I'm going to build a few packs for my blade cp and I need to know how much voltage the stock electronics can handle. I plan on using some 2/3a matched cells in either 1100 or 1150mah ratings. I can use 8-10 cells but I don't want to fry any electronics.

RE: Highest voltage for blade cp electronics?
it runs fine on 3 cell LiPo, and that is 12.6V
if that helps |

Hey Exeter,
It runs fine on 3 cells, but I still can't fly the darn thing:) Ken |

Are you building lipos or NiMh packs? I wouldn't go far above 12vdc.
4-cell lipos at 14vdc would really be pushing it and would fry the 4-in-1 eventually. |
RE: Highest voltage for blade cp electronics?
lipos don't come in "A" ratings. hence the 2/3a I am using. They are super cheap at $0.98 a cell and I don't have to buy a special charger.
Thanks for the info guys! |
RE: Highest voltage for blade cp electronics?
Gotcha. I built 9-cell NiMh packs for my blade. They run really good, better than the 8-cell stock batteries. Upgraded to lipos now and it's almost impossible to go back to NiMh after you fly with those.

What kind of cells did you use? Did the added weight seem to hurt much?

RE: Highest voltage for blade cp electronics?
Actually, since I was using my first heli, DF#4, as spare parts (crappy machine) I had 3 stock 7-cells from that one.
I split 1 battery up and added 2 cells each to the other 2 packs making 2 9-cells packs. Confused yet? The DF#4 has those green 7-cell battery packs. Configuration below. O O O O O O O After adding 2 cells to each one they look like this: O O O O O O O O O The weight of 1 extra cell is no problem at all. |

I flew with 9 cells on my Blade CP with the aero kit and then switch over to 10C 3S 900maH lipo. What a day and night different; with the lipo pack, you don't have to deal with the constant tail trimming problem and you can feel she's lighter and more responsive.
