Something out of ordinary.
Recently got my hands on this rather unusual unfinished model built quarter century ago by fellow modeller as a slope soarer. I thought it would be a great contender to make it as EDF jet. Few weeks ago I started scratching my head where to start but now it's just about ready for its maiden, few pics.

Another test flight today with my prototype in strong wind to see she handles it, more than pleased with this simple mop-up holding together well, mostly using the sticky tape. Vid. next.

Took it to the beach to do my range check, few taxi runs along perfect low tide sand but too windy for a test flight today, just a little 3ft hop into 30 km/h wind gave me all the positive confidence for the next time.

Still no full flight with the original, it will take some time for the fields to dry up after 4 days of non stop drenching. Few more flights today with the prototype off the hill side instead, "PF'16".

My impatience was running wild, just about the worse weather conditions during the festive season somewhat settled on New Years day so the first thing I headed to the field to celebrate by maiden of this unique build. All went brilliant thanks to my prior experimenting with the smaller prototype, another success, Happy chap and New Year.

Thanks Mate, that's what this wonderful hobby is all about. Just finishing off another improvement by removal of sharp fore swepped w/tips and adding small winglets for better stability at slower speeds. The shape of the frame almost reminds me of my old favoured "Worzel Gummage". Safe flying.

Latest improvement to keep my ESC cooler was installing couple of air intakes just in front of canards to get some air flow over the unit exiting just above its vent. After yesterday's test flight the temperature of speedo dropped down some 23 deg. C after additional heat sinks were added and this latest modification. Now, that's cool.

Something out of ordinary was the first air show of its kind in our district this Labour long weekend, enjoy my short review.
"Wings over Macleay"
Long weekend the Labour Day, Kempsey Airport staged the first air show spectacular of its kind. The main attraction of this event was "Paul Bennett Airshow" performing with his team some death defying acrobatic display through out Saturday and Sunday in perfect sunny conditions. Part of his flying display was also demonstration by his regular RC pilots Jeff Sparkes and Levi Wagner showing their skills with fantastic flying display of their large jet turbine powered "F-16" RC models.
Cpt. Rod Hall did his share of flying display with the full size "L-39" jet based at Port Macquarie. Also on display among dozens of full size planes was huge Australian Navy "MRH-90" helicopter. There was also constant joy flight action with "Long Ranger" helicopter both days for public to enjoy some site seeing over the Kempsey-Macleay Shire.
Saturday night was a Gala dinner held at Kempsey RSL Club with some entertainment by Josh Needs, public speaking by a visiting Australian Navy Helicopter representative, and the inspirational talk interview by Paul Bennett, very enjoyable evening and great food.
Joseph Frost one of the local active RC enthusiast took part in the show by staging a static RC model display to promote this great hobby in the district. Bringing along wide range of models to create interest for anyone taking up the hobby. He also donated fine limited edition art work of "Tiger Moth" by Australian artist Colin Parker as one of the raffle prizes to be won at the conclusion of the airshow.
He also kindly presented to the "Kempsey Aero Club" after their hard work feeding the hungre public during the showtime, the framed print of "Farewell Harrier", he painted during 40th. Anniversary selebration of this unique jet back in 2010, also on display as RC, EDF model version. Other models on display were his 80 inch span "BAE HAWK" jet powered by 127mm EDF unit, electric powered 102 inch span "C-130, Hercules", experimental "X-29" jet, re-designed as 80mm EDF model. "Touch of Magenta", huge scratch build delta foamy jet powered by "PST600R" jet turbine and one of the favored model Joseph build 18 years ago when still in his RC helicopter days.
The show concluded by performance of local young talented guitarist Josh Needs, joy flights in some of Paul Bennett's War Birds and departure of many visiting planes. Great family out thing and something to look forward to the next year, see you then, Joseph Frost.

New th/tube made up.
What a site!
Another experiment with my extraordinary "Twentyniner", power unit upgrade to "80mm Jet Fan", running on 25V, possibly 32 if I can fit in two 4S in ser.

Today, taking off down wind off the very rough grass strip no issue. After the flight while holding the model in vertical position it easily held its own weight at 2.9 kilos. Landings are much hotter at the extra weight.
