Default F117A project

I am attempting to build a F117a out of Blucore sheeting. I am nearly complete. I am using a VASA65 fan and a standard speed 400 motor. Any ideas or thoughts on using fixed rudders and elevon controls? That is the configuration I chose. I wish I would have taken several pics as I was building but I didn't think about it. Here is one sample shot. It is almost complete.

Very nice!
How about some specs on the model, like length, span and weight.

Also go the RCGroups.com and post it in the electric jet forum there. Most of the EDF user are there.

Specs for the plane are 38" long, 27" wing span. Weighs in at 15 oz without the battery. It is fitted with a VASA 65 fan and a speed 400 motor. Elevons for now, no rudder. The next one will be modified to be lighter with ailerons, and rudder and elevator mixing. Planning to start the second prototype in about a month. I haven't even tried to fly this one yet. waiting on my batteries to come in. The second one will probably be fit with 2 Fans.

Can you film your plane? It would be cool to see your F-117 fly

I build the DCRC F-117 that has a revue here at RCU
The Rudder elevator configuration didn’t very well
You will get the F-117 wobble if your rudders are scale

I have tried and retired this bird. I will be trying again soon. I did not have enough power to weight. I will be trying again with Li-Poly and fans. Will probably try 2 fans next run. I did not use rudders on the first. Just Elevon mixing. Controls were ok, Just too heavy. I need some foam about 1/16" thick. I haven't found anything yet.

Hey No-Apologies, nice projet.

You can get 1mm thick depron foam from flyingfoam.com

Depronusa.com carries 2mm, 3mm, and 6mm thick depron foam.

I don't know how much weight you'll save over bluecore but probably not enough. The lipos will help but you may need to upgrade to brushless as well, or try the twin fan setup.

I started on a bluecore F-117 about a year ago but only had paper airplane foldable plans. I started to draw some better plans up in cad but went on to other projects.

Good luck!
