Default GWS A10 QUESTION

Im building a gws a10 . I am upgrading to brushless motors. My question is about speed controls
. Do I need 1 speed control for each motor? How do you wire 2 motor set up with either 1 or 2 speeds controls. I understand the battery wiring , but what about throttle control with 2 speed controls , ( 1 plug on rx , 2 plugs from escs). How do you wire the motors if 1 esc is used.

Also what kind of motors , fans and batteries are you guys using and what kind of performance are you getting .

Any information would be great

Most esc's don't start BL motors well. I've played with this a lot. There is also an inefficiency in using 2 motors on 1 ESC. They draw more current on the meter, than the sum of both, on 2 ESC's. The CC25 has given me the best success on 2 motors with 1 ESC. Here's a twin setup that works. Himax 2015-4100, GWS EDF55, 3s-2100mah lipo, Single CC25 ESC. When starting, it may take a few tries. If it does not go and jitters, SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY. This is like a short, burning up the ESC. Usually a few quick, small throttle advances gets it going. Once started, the RPMs can be dropped quite low, and they will stay in sync. The above setup will work well in your A-10.
For wiring 2 motors with 1 ESC, simply parallel the motor leads. For weight efficiency, you coul probably use 18 or 20 GA on the motor leads. An efficient parallel setup will probably use smaller leads, as they branch out. For example, if the ESC motor leads are 16 GA, you may only need 18 GA to each motor. Use the wattmeter to determine what gauge you'll need. I've also starting using Dean's 3 pin connectors on my ESC to motor connections. I still use the gold bullets at the motor, but this makes the ESCs more easily interchangeable.

I'm upgrading my GWS A-10 also. Is yours a GWS? If so go out to www.e-flightline.com, look for the ducted fan link. They have a few EDF-55 upgrades to choose from depending on your style of flying. Me I ordered the Himax 2015-5400. Please note that you will need two brushless ESC's, just cant get two brushless motors to work on one. Now how do you hook two ESC's up to the Receiver? I have a thread under hammer2002 out hear on RC universe under electric jets. One of the people that responsed is a guy named Carl RC univers name CTulanko he stated this "Another thing to note is that if you use the ESC to supply BEC power to the receiver, you will need to use a Y-Connector to connect both the ESC's to you receivers "throttle" channel. You can run into problems if both ESC's are supplying power to the receiver, so you just unplug the positive lead from it's plug on just "one" of the speed controllers. It's usually the middle wire and is either orange or red and you can put some heat shrink over it so it doesn't short against anything. This way, only one ESC is supplying power to your receiver."

I hope this helps, I'm wating for my new EDF-55's and my second ESC to come in, shoul be here by weeks end.
