RE: first jet
It looks very nice, but in my opinion, it would make a better Second or Third Jet kit. Why don't you try one of the pusher prop jets that Steve Shumate designed first. You can re-use most of your existing equipment and give Jets a try. 3D-Foamy and 6mmFlyRC carry kits, and scratch-builders plans are available both here and on other modeling forums.
I have a scratch built YF-22 Raptor of my own design with a 39" length and a 26" wingspan that I made from BlueCor. I also have a Depron 133% SuperHornet from 6mmFLyRC and a scratch-built 166% enlargement of Steve Shumate's F-18 ParkJet built from BlueCor. All 3 are great flyers, and give you that "Need for Speed" jet feel.
Here are some photos of mine.
If you would like to look at some videos of the planes flying, you can find them here.

RE: first jet
dean,
I wanted to get started with Park Jets. I have the Ikarus SU27 XXL from Hobby Lobby using a brushless Warp 4-4 turn motor. It is my jet trainer. Although I know how to fly and have both planes and helis hand launching was almost a lost art with me as I had not done it since my single channel days. Flying the SU now and have a Steve Shumate F15 on order for my next bird.
