1/8 scale Electric Jet????
I am wanting to go to a larger scale jet like the F-16 1/8 from sky master jets.
http://www.skymasterjet.com/f16s.htm
The cost of the airframe is a large one but well worth it.
However if I buy everything required my up front cost can swell above $6000.00
I want to know if it is possible to fly a jet of this size on an EDF and if there are any suggestions as to the size of motor required to power such a beast.

That is great there is hope. What size motor did you run? and is 14lbs the static thrust that was produced by the 120mm fan?

You can fly a jet that size on EDF. It will not necessarily be any cheaper than on a turbine. An electric might be easier to operate, depending on your experience.

RE: 1/8 scale Electric Jet????
I Have never fired up a turbine or know of anyone who has. No one in my club has a turbine yet so the support network is NIL.
I want to start with electric and learn to fly it with that for a 1-2 years and progress to the turbine path.
Perhaps by then there will be some turbines at the local field. I have found the jet available for $900.00 and that is what has got me interested.

No... 14 lbs wasn't the static thrust if i'm not mistaken the static thrust was about 11-12 lbs, the 14lbs was the weight of the jet not really 1-1 but check out the skymaster video those guys seem to have caught on and appear to now be developing their own thing or atleast an edf version...hehehe.
Maybe you can get a reply from anton about availability.
