Default Glow- electric conversion advise

Hi guys, im about to scratch build an F18 that is surpose so be powered off a 91 ramtec setup and want to try my hands at edf power, any advice on a power setup to replace the glow motor and fan??

Let's look at weight of plane, the area in the fuse to house your EDF unit, ducting for the EDF, are you going single or twin EDF. Looks like your plane might be in the 12-14 lbs category for that fan. How about the BVM EDF unit or what is available at Jet Hangar? Those units will give you about 12-14 lbs thrust. Also your power set up will be in the 8S-10S region. Going to take a second mortgage?

You can also get a lot of assistance in RC Groups on this ... they got some really crazy EFD guys there.

WOW!! maybe I will order the glow motor and stick to my methnol friendsl, they sure no how to charge for this elec stuff huh

Well the motor EDF and ESC will set you back on average USD1,000 ... batteries are about USD600 per flight pack ... not to mention charger and balancer, which is not too much. Maybe better to go with an EDF of like 40 sized and made of foam!
