I have a Hyperion Y-22L 5200kv 20mm diam. motor on order that was supposed to go in my eflite F-16 before I totaled it the other day. I'm going to order the Phase three F-16 but I would like to utilize the motor I ordered. I plan on using 3S lipos and am open to using any fan, blade or ESC combination but I would like to keep using my 3s lipos, should I stick with the stock fan or try something different?
Read back through the thread, they suggest higher power motors. I fly as stock, haven't had any issues BUT I'm not interested in getting 110mph+ either.

Hi All,

You might check these Screw Mounts and Cheater Hole Support out if you like being able to service the motor compartment of your P3 F-16.

Thanks Crash!

What?

Gary...when I install this stuff, I'm gonna epoxy some basswood anchors into the foam so the screws will hold well. I have one stock F-16 I've been flying, it's pretty much stock. My next one I'll use these screw devices, and it's gonna get a standard camo paint job with the bottom being light grey to white....makes it easier to see for orientation.

I just got a EF-16 for Christmas and can't get the ESC to arm. I have a JR XP8130 transmitter and have followed the directions that came with the plane. Throttle all the way down to low, played with the travel adjustment and subtrim adjustment, but no arming. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I am not familar with jr... but if you took the throttle from low and up to high and back to low and nothing, try reverseing the throttle servo seting.. I know that in futaba you have to set the throttle to reverse..
Do the servos react?

Thanks for getting back to me. Yeh, I tried that. Servos do not work either because the ESC is not arming. I bought this from Atlanta hobbies. Guess I need to give Cliff a call.

Sorry I was no help.. that sounds like the plan.....I did not use their esc. because I had read so much about it going bad. Its a shame that they have such a good plane and a not so good esc....
You will love this bird when you get a good esc....

scalejet,, what are you tired about? I love my stock setup,, flys good, is fast.. lands good. get 7 min. + flight times..
You are getting into a total rebuild.,, new motor and fan ect.
On the 4s you are talking about more weight too. same answer with the glass you want to put on.
just my 2 cents.....

Looks good...where'd you get the decals?

Another alternative to water based paint or glassing would be ULTRA COAT. Takes low heat, seals nicely AND forms a very protective skin over the foam. Colors.....what do you want?

ESC arming prob...check make sure all trims are set neutral except the throttle, which should be all the way down. Also check radio settings/switches (throttle hold etc.). I've had NO problem with my stock ESC to date, but I generally fly at 1/2 throt or 3/8 throt....I don't push it hard. I use full power on take off, then back it off at flying altitude.

Hey fellas,

I need some help. I read the instructions on the Phase 3 EDF-16 and can't understand the instructions about the controls. When I pull down on the stick for the plane to go up ... what does both Tailerons POINT up or down? When I push the stick to the left does the Left Taileron POINT up ?

When you pull back to give "Up" elevator, the rear of both stabs should go up.

When you roll right, the rear of the right one goes up, the rear of the left stab goes down.

It's really the same as "elevons". You can think of the whole plane the same as any other flying wing cause nothing on the wing moves. (like a Zagi).

Make sure the stabs are PERFECTLY aligned...it's critical. On take off...full power, elevator trim about 3/4 down. Throw it at a 6-8deg nose up attitude...correct for minor roll and trim it out when it's up there. Once you have good forward speed, then you can trim the elevator out for straight and level flight. These things are a hoot...I have my THIRD one on the bench being built right now.

Like was said , make sure tails are equal, as to the downtrim I guess he means down from the line the manual says is level but I would only go 1/8 inch,, the tail will be up, I call this up trim on the elevator, not downtrim..like you pulled back on the elevator a little..
A nice toss at about level or slightly up...Let it gather forward speed then up. You will have no problems.. but a straight toss is important.. A lot of people want to twist when they release and thats bad...Like said its a great plane , I love mine..

Guess I said it wrong but moving the elevator trim down IS trimming up. You're dead right about the throw. I've seen people throw them DOWN, throw them with a twist causing a tip stall, results are always the same.....broken plane. The Phase 3 is an exceptionally designed EDF and flies well.
