Nitro Models Bobcat Electric?
Hello,
I am curious if anyone has done a electric conversion of the Nitro Bobcat .50 size pusher jet? I am considering building the one that I purchased almost 2 years ago and I was thinking about putting in an Eflite 60 with a 3 blade prop, any suggestions? I have a OS 61 FX I was considering but I want to experiment with electrics for a while. Thanks for any and all replies.

Will a Master Airscrew 11x7 3-blade fit? I have a Long-EZ with a similar motor and went with a 12S1P 2100mAh. With the battery all the way forward I still needed 2oz nose weight. I use a CC HV-45 ESC, but the prop is small for the 310Kv motor so it tops out a about 30Amps static. The EFlite 60 has a Kv of 400 so 12 cells is too many rpm, 9 or 10 would be better.

You will have to find a 2 bladed square prop. the inch will equal the pitch. I keep finding the need for this over and over with electrics. I have also had good speed numbers with the Graupner black cam series props.
I have the little ecat from nitro with a 1600 kv medusa and a 8S A123 setup on a graupner 7x6 prop. It does over 100 with fixed gear at about 1.5KW. Its a bit heavy though. The power system is hard to tune overall in these setups. you must get cooling air into it as well. I mounted my ESC under the belly in the wind.
If I were doing a bobcat, I would put a TAM TJ1100 ducted fan on it and run the 12S setup then. It would cook.
If you want to run a prop,, it will be a balance of pitch/thrust. you need alot of pitch for electrics to make speed. My 4S 3000 mah, 2500kv medusa uses a 6x5.5, Both of those have a pitch speed in the 120-130 range. I found myself cutting down props. I have 8x6 that we cut to a 6x6... everything is very sensitive to prop sizing....very sensitive, just a 1/4 inch trim off the prop can make a 10 amp difference in some cases
