Has anyone done or know someone who has converted a Dynamax to electric. I have half a dozen fan units sitting around looking for an electric set-up, if it possible. Any info would be appreciated

Yes.
Works very well and relitivly cheap if you get the Scorpion motor option.

Found alot of info on the Dynamax conversionwith Neu motors and scorpion motors. I also found an Aeronaut 4000 fan producing 18lbs. in Aug 08 issue of some magazine. Jason Noll's 767 twin. Is that true? Anyone using or heard of it. Cant seem to find anyone selling it either

A TF wont really do 18 pounds installed in an aircraft. it'll just about pull it off on a bench but installed ducting loss's in the front shroud how much it can feed so you get a drop. Then to get some good efflux out back you need to queeze the tail pipe down which raises loads beyond limits of today's cells. But thats ok! you dont have to do 18 pounds, dont even hasve to exceed 11 installed for a great flying jet. TF is one of the best fans out there and is purpose built for E use. All the other converted fans are going to put out few more pounds of thrust but at dismal velocity(150 to 160 mph range) even at full throttle, and since you can only fly about 75% of your efflux speed, regardless of static thrust, you will have a heavy battery killer that has to fly full throttle all the time despite abundance of static just to eek out 110 mph flights with a few 125's 130's out of a dive. Granted it will climb to the moon regardless of AUW, but do it quik cause you will have little time in flight to enjoy it. Now of you go outrunner and super light you might be able to have a setup that will be able to fly on much less throttle, heck even 8 pound thrust range and half the amps, but at 8 pounds thrust 50 amps velocity is now realy low in the 130's or less, and ya still got that massive motor on board to carry this big fan. where as you could just dump it all for a midi that will also do 50 to 60 amps 7 to 8 lbs thrust but at 180 mph efflux, and on less motor and battery count and weight so the 8 pounds seems more like 9 or 10 pounds thrust. Oh yeah and cells will last forever at your new 5 to 6.5 min flights and cost is about a 1/4.
