Help me identify my F-86
I bought this F-86 a couple of years ago. It was hanging in a hobby shop but they didn't know who made it or anything about it. I'm hoping someone who frequents RC Universe can help me identify the manufacturer. I'd also like to know if it's a good flyer and worth the time and money to get it there. Someone suggested it could be a Kyosho electric version but I thought they all had a scoop on the side. This one doesn't. Another thought it might be K&A but it isn't.
The fuse is two-piece fiberglass with plastic intake and exhaust end caps. The internal ducting is nice and smooth. The intake opening is elongated much like the F-86H and the wings seem to be swept more than normal. The canopy is clear plastic. The wings and tail group are covered balsa. It's set up for separate servos for each elevator and someone marked balancing points for positioning the battery. Also, note that originally one servo worked both ailerons, so that too was modified. Problem is now I'll have to make drop tanks to protect the servos (I won't have landing gear - at least not initially. Maybe retracts later on?).
The installed fan is a stock 79 mm Kyosho unit with the heavy AP29L brushed motor, just like the one that came with my Kyosho T-33 (and I replaced with brushless). The F-86 weighs about 2 lbs as-is and is a about 3 feet long (that's a yardstick in the picture).
I installed a HET 2W-20 brushless in a spare Kyosho fan but wonder if this is the best fan to use. I suspect this motor will turn more rpms than a stock brushed one, although I've not had a problem with my Kyosho T-33 and its Model Motor 450F in the stock Kyosho fan (pic).
Maybe someone can identify the origin of this jet. It would be nice to have things like the CG range without having to resort to trial and error!
Thanks in advance,
Chuck

RE: Help me identify my F-86
It might be an old House of Balsa Sabre. I seem to remember that they made one with a glass fuse. You might want to post the pics and ask the question over on RCGroups too.
Most folks run the 2w-20 in either the Wemotech Minifan or HET 6904, both are 70mm fans.

RE: Help me identify my F-86
I already tried RCG with no luck. I hadn't heard of the House of Balsa kit. I'll try to follow up on that. Thanks for the fan tip. I suspected the Kyosho fan might not be up to the 2W-20
