Default Battery question

Will a zippy 2200 3S 20C be ok in a stock Phase 3 F16? I think it has a 40 amp esc and that battery will give 44. Thanks

Default RE: Battery question

brett65,

Your 20C pack will "theoretically" be capable of deliver 44 amps. Whether it does or not depends on the motor and ESC.

A coincidence that you have asked this particular question just when you did.

I have just received a pair of 3Sx2100 Zippy LiPo's. These are the 20C type, not the 25C "H" series. I paid less than $45 for them, which included shipping.

I will use them in my Fouga Magister, which has always been powered by Thunder Power V2's. But take a look at the results of a bench test with the Zippy packs

From an earlier post concerning the Magister

"...AUW with a very old, much used TP V2 3Sx4400 lipo and tip tanks is 52 oz. With 340 sq.in, the wing loading is 22 oz. Just about 480 watts @ 50.4 amps, 19 oz of static thrust. With a t/w of .36 and 148 w/lb..."

With the Zippy pack

Measured static thrust is 23 oz, up from 19 oz
Measured power is 683 watts, up from 480 (42% inc)

Current is 60.7 amps, up from 50.4

t/w is now .44, was .36 (22% inc)
213 w/lb, up from 148

In my case, the current delivered is significantly greater than with the Thunder Power batteries. I'm sure it has to do with the lower battery resistance.
As far as the 40 amp ESC is concerned, you may have to limit full throttle use but if it were mine, I'd use it just as is.
