Beriev Be-200 for twin EDF40 brushless power
A while back I became quite enamored of the beautiful Beriev Be-200 multi purpose amphibious turbofan aircraft from the CIS. Not many jet powered aircraft that can fly off the water.
I started a small version from a scaled up three view back in 2006. No real plans, just construction sketches....39" wingspan, all balsa, for EDF40 fans with 25 turn Feigao motors. Put it aside for a few years and got back on it in May, wanting to finish it for SMALL Steps. Here are a few pics...one of the real thing, a few of the framed up model in various stages of construction and some of the finished model, plus a flight photo.
The basic stats are 39" span, all balsa construction, fully sheeted, all Monokote (except for the dark blue, which is the Sig film), twin GWS EDF40 fans with brushless Feigao 1208425 12mm motors, twin Turnigy Plush 10 controllers, AR6110 RX, three servos, mix of HS-55 and HXT servos, Hobby City 30-40 C 3S 1300 lipo. It is making about 200 watts on a fully charged battery. All up weight ended up at 20.5 oz.
First public appearance was at the great SMALL Steps event last weekend in Little Rock, AR. Flies GREAT! Although it was intended for hand lanching and flying off of grass, it has great performance (accellerates quickly off grass) and I have hopes that it will work off water as well. Will tweak the step on the hull, perhaps add some small spray rails and refine the tip floats a little and try an ROW this weekend, if time allows.

thanks, Don!
Here is a link to a video of the model's first public flight...need to post it on RCU, but have not had a chance to do so, yet:
