New Habu on the Horizon...
I just got back from the E Jets International electric jet show / flyin in Grove City Ohio. I was awesome to say the least! Anyway Horizon Hobby was there and they were showing off a new prototype Habu. This bird was fiberglass, had an 80mm fan and was breaking into the 160mph range. The airframe will retail for around $300 and I over heard a figure of $800 RTF. This plane was a beauty and should be available in January. I'll attachsomepics....enjoy.

RE: New Habu on the Horizon...
Just for clarity...the new E-flite Habu 32 features:
Glass fuse & inlets, built-up wood wings & horizontals. Vertical is molded glass with the fuse. CF blade spars with Aluminum sockets in the fuse.
ARF completion
Delta-V 32 fan will be 80mm, 5 blades
New E-flite motor at 2150Kv
6S operation, 3850-5000 mAh (we like to fly with 5000 for endurance)
Will require 70-80A ESC
Uses E-flite 15-25 Electric Retracts
Flaps
It won't be live on the web until iHobby, the 3rd week of October.
Expected availability not until late January. I know this makes for an early showing, but we just couldn't miss E-Jets!
Price $299; cost to complete with all recommended components will put it around $1200 or so.

This is not a foam jet and has a bigger motor than the parkzone Habu. They are also using retracts and has flaps. You can not compare this at all to the parkzone Habu. Two different jets. I feel the price is justified when you look at the complete package.

RE: New Habu on the Horizon...
I agree, Hellcat. Aircraftfreak is entitled to his opinion, however his opinion is lacking in substance. As one who has over 55 years in building and flying most types of model aircraft....from scratch, kits, ARF's, foamies, glo power, gas, electric prop and EDF's, $300 for the airframe and an additional $600 to $900 (depends on the brand name and the source from which obtained) for the completion items is reasonable.
Also, part of that $300 price tag for the airframe supports the really great customer service provided by ParkZone, E-Flight, Hangar 9 (Horizon Hobby) in the form of a good spare parts inventory, and all around product support, which on the FEW occasions I have had to use it, the results were totally satisfactory. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!....there is no free ride, unless ones means of support is the US Government Taxpayer! They are among the BEST in the business. There are only a few other manufacturers that I have found rank close to Horizon, namely Great Planes and SAPAC America. (I have NO affiliation with ANY manufacturer or distributor)

RE: New Habu on the Horizon...
Looks fantastic from what we can see so far. 299 for airframe seems reasonable for a quality product. The 600-900$ for completion is with reccommended parts, so there is a LOT of leeway there for cutting costs. Like batts and electronics from HC., or elsewhere. Horizon has great products and support, but things like batteries and power systems do tend to be overpriced, so get a kick butt 300$ airframe and put in whatever you want for power and servos. I think 300$ for a 160+mph airframe aint to bad myself!

Great information and thanks for showing us the pics. The price is right and I would purchase one in a heart beat if
it was for sale today. They made a great flying plane even better now that's priceless,
in the mean time the old foamy will hold me over until January...

"Quote"Did you have to add weight to the rear to balance the battery?"Quote"
Terry it sits right on the CofG and you can add a little trim if you want to.
I did not make any trim changes because I use the Thunder Power 4s 3250 packs for more
aerobatics and less duration flying. With the retract mod and without it still flys great
and as you can see it carrys the pack well.
I did not do a lot of vertical in the demo because I was afraid that when I looked
straight up my camera would slip out and fall.
