I am working on this B52. It will have 8 55mm fan units and 4300 KV motors. The wingspan will be 94 in. with a 75 in. fusilage. I am planning to install robot retracts and four 5000mah batteries. I've posted some of my early pictures and will post more as I go.

A friend of mine here is building one also. Built up balsa/ply, retracts (outriggers are electric), fowler flaps.

My friend wants to know if you are doing a foam or built up wing.

RE: B-52

Hi, It is all foam wing with 3 carbon fiber rods shaped like a triangle and foam ribs for the support. There is a little ply used not much. The whole plane will be fiberglased and painted. I will put some pics on when building the wing. If your friend would like to see the wing assembled, I can send him pics. If anyone is interested I have a spare kit and instructions with step-by-step of how to build it.

Thanks for the reply. My friend does not have a computer but I showed him your pics. So far he is building the wings. They are 7' each half with 4 70mm fans in the inboard pods only. The outbards are dummys. The outboard gear are electric. He has made fowler mechanisms for the flaps to extend 2 1/2" before going downward.

Thanks. yes the B17 , in my opinion, is the most historic Boeing aircraft ever built. The B52 has many similarities. I'll keep posting as I build.

Are the fans scale diameter? Is this your kit, or someone else's.

Looks cool.

Hi I have two kits as far as I know everthing is scale for this 1/26 model I pick them up from rcu member who made them. The retracts look a little small but they will work Building this one and will sell the other kit

I have every thing to complete it. Working on the batteries dont know yet how it will turn out I want to use two 5000 mah wire four motors on one battery test not good pull the batteries down fast so i will try four batteries split them two on four motors see if i can 2100 or2200 mah per motor . I will send more pics and keep posting step by step Thanks

My last entry showed the wing assembly. The original design made the wing permanent to the fusilage, but I didn't want that since it would not fit in my SUV. I wanted to bolt the wings to the fusilage and be able to take them off for transporting.

Here is the right wing with four motors hook up and test run. Every thing works all the BEC work and the wiring is all good next step is to build the left wing panel

Use 40-40c batteries maybe. An 1800mah 40c can discharge at 72 amps...maybe realisticly 60-65. On a 55mm fan 600 to 700 watts is alot of good thrust. The math is 3 cell, or 4 cell. ( 3-cell )

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=9937

this pack is 172 grams or 6 ounces x 8 equals 3 lbs.

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=9938

this pack is 222 grams or 7.83 ounces x 8 equals 3.915 lbs.

This pack is in one of my 70mm jets and it's doing 650 watts nicely, not even warm after a full flight.

(conversion from grams to ounces is divide grams by 28.35 equals ounces_)

(or you can do kilograms times 2.2 equals pounds )

The four cell pack is more efficient and uses less current with the right motor choice. And uses less costly ESC's. 14.8 volt packs at 40 amps is about 600 watts. Do 50 amp or 60 amp ESC's. 8 of them add up in price.

Turnigy TZ-85A have BEC of 5 amps each, and can be applied in parallel for 40 amps for the radio. An rX with a heavy power bus might be a consideration. Each Turnigy ESC is 40 bucks.

I use the Cyclone outrunners. They can max out and stay cool by design, and they are good to excellent quality.

this is the page with 3cell 4 cell specs

http://www.pw-rc.com/product_info.ph...oducts_id/1750

With free shipping and 38 bucks x 8 equals $304.00 and Philip takes only PayPal, but it's a good conversion, the cost for currency exchange is absorbed by the seller.

I hope I can be of further assistance...
Ed

8 3 cell 1800 40c packs are $161.17 total from Hobbycity
8 85 amp esc's is $307.71 total from Hobbycity.
8 motors from Philip Workshop is $303.76

Under 800 bucks

Thanks guys for your input. Hobby Pople have 5000mah 3s 30c I hopeing to used four and hook the eight motors up . My next test will be to run the batteries in parallel and see if they will work. Each motor is runing about 450 to 500 watts at 30 amps the reason i'm used bec is to make sure no interference from the fans with a seperate power supply Iwill post some pics soon the right wing is about 90% if you have any info let me know
