GWS products are pretty good. I've moved on to brushless and other brands that are a bit more specialized, but GWS is a really good place to start in this hobby.

The GWS Slow Stick and Tiger Moth have brought more people into the hobby in recent years than you can imagine. These planes made it possible for people to learn to fly on their own, when circumstances prevented them from getting into the hobby through traditional means (e.g. money, lack of local experienced pilots, poorly managed/unfriendly club, fear/loathing of engine-powered aircraft).

Anthony,
I agree with Matt. Although I have not flown a Tiger Moth I hear that they are good. I have the Slow Stick and it is very easy to fly. However, my experience with GWS, and from what I hear from others, is that they supply motors that are underpowered. I replaced the 300 that I got with the SlowStick with a 350 and it made a big difference. Also, I recommend beefing up the wing(its very simple) to make it a bit stronger. If you get the SlowStick let me know and I will send you some pictures of what I did or just do a search for some simple mods.
In the mean time here is a link to some discussion on SS mods.

AeroMicro has good prices on the motors(I have no afiliation)

By the way, I bought the GWS J3 Cub and regreted it due to all the mods I had to make. Obviously it flies otherwise it wouldnt be selling, but from what I gather on these forums no-one is flying one in its stock out-of-the-box configuration. I would not recomend it if you are just starting out, but do some research on it before you take only my word for it. I just wanted to let you know my opinion.
If you are interested my comments on the J3 Cub can be found at http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_12...tm.htm#1252259
Hope this helps a little,
Peter
