Default Motor Control amp question

I am looking at buying the new Easy Star from Hobby Lobby. I see that they list a 6-10 cell 11amp motor control is needed. I have an E-Flight 6-10 cell 16amp motor control from another plane. My question is can I use this? Does the 16amp just mean that it can handle larger currents from a bigger battery. I obviously am still new at this electric RC equipment. Thnaks for any responses.

Yes the amp rating is for the highest recommended current use. Using a larger ESC than is required does no harm... it just adds weight and cost of purchase.

...and that's not always the case. Even though it's rated for more current, your ESC could be lighter and could cost less than the recommended

Thank you for your replies. It will save me some money since I already have the motor control from a wrecked airplane

Saving money is always good. That way, you can spend it on another plane
