Default The Frog

Hello , A friend built a foamie for me called the Frog. Its an awesome plane to fly. Its made out of blue fan fold foam and is an elevator/rudder plane. I must admit when I saw him duilding it I was a little skeptical but once it was together I was very impressed. When I put it in the air I was even more impressed! It flies awesome and my first few flights were totally crash free. I've tested its durability since mostly from flying when its too windy. I'll be building another one as I've ordered the plans and plan on always having one around. I've got a more advanced "nicer" plane waiting in the wings but am trying to get serious stick time before I put it up. Having a blast and am now totally addicted. My wife is going to be out for you David[X(]. Just kiding and much thanks. I'm learning a ton thanks to you!! Just wanted to share my recent success!! Have fun everybody. Monster

So where's the photo?[sm=tired.gif] Here's a question. How bad do you have to crash a FROG before it "croaks?"[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

I told you the Frog was a killer little plane. GWR you see pictures of the Frog here http://www.foamfly.com/gallery/Hippos?&page=2
It is a fantastic flyer that can be built in an afternoon. Rdmonster's is the first one that we have built with an IPS motor. We have been using GWS 300 C drives and increasing the wing span. You can order the plans here http://www.foamfly.com/customer/prod...94b74d538c19d1

My kids learned to fly, indoors with Frogs. It is really hard to make one "croak". A little hot glue and some tape and they are back in the air. Last winter they were flying full contact indoor combat with their Frogs. They managed to break one in half; a little hot glue and some tape and they were back in the air. This has got to be the most durable, forgiving plane that Ihave seen in 23 years on flying.

hopefully we can get together and fly next week. I called the Dr and got some new meds so hopefully my sinus' will clear up and this headache wil go away. Don't work to hard this weekend. Give me a call on Tuesday.

Too bad. You just missed out on a fantastic little flyer, that will fly with ease in a single basketball court. You need to look at the videos of the Frog at foamfly.com. $12.00 is cheap for a plane that flies this good.

Now that I know the wingspan and have enough photos from enough angles, I'll just try and make my own copy of the FROG; ribbit ribbit.

She can't be any meaner than Old Lady! Besides, I don't have to sleep with her, you do!

I almost dropped my 9303 the other day, so I went up to Hobby Town and bought a neck strap. While I was there I looked around and they have the GWS 6 channel recievers in stock. You need to get one and a crystal to match your Airtronics radio. They run $24.99 for the reciever and I am guessing $9.00 for the crystal. You need to get used to the Airtronics radio before we take up your PT.

My bi-plane has not arrived yet so I am going to go down and ride 30 miles and then start on my Switch back. The drugs are working!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!

Andy
I just read your PM. You need to drop $30.00 on a 2s lipo. Hobby Town has several in stock. I am thinking a 2s 860 would get you around 40 minutes of air time, keep the frog balanced and have enough power to keep you out of trouble. Is the stab, rudder and wing OK? If so we can build another fuse pretty quick. A heat gun will get the 3M77 to release so we can save the wings and stuff. Have you thought about getting a GWS reciever? We need to go on a shopping spree. You could drop about $60.00 at Hobby Town and have a hot setup.

I biffed the IFO big time today. It got caught by a big wing gust and went behind my big pine tree in the front yard. It broke the battery mount, landing gear and the eleveron linkages. I should have it repaired tomorrow.

I have a frog as well, and I built it to be a safe, easy, repairable kid trainer.
Last year 2 of my boys were 6 and 10, and they both had no trouble keeping the frog in the air as long as there was not a lot of wind.
It is so beginner friendly that almost any 6 year old can fly it after a 1 minute ground school, and another minute or two of dual pilot time. Some adults can learn that quickly too.

David, The wing has a few dings on it but the control surfaces are fine. It would be in great shape if I was a little more cautious but once I figured how to loop it I couldn't stop. It still flies great it's just getting ugly and I'm afraid the extra tape and glue is going to make it heavier!!!Looked outside a little while ago and it's pretty calm. I'll be flying after Zoe gets on the bus if it stays that way!! Talk to you soon. P.S. I'll get paid next Thursday and get those items.
