I am a relatively new r/c pilot. I have tried to fly a firebird XL model that I consider a kids
toy - if not garbage. parkzone.com has these 2 rtf's available - SUPER DECATHLON and the
J-3 CUB. how do these planes fly. they seem to be a good deal for the money as complete
packages $159.00. have any of you flown any of these planes& ur opinion? which one would
you prefer? are there any other rtf's with a similiar or lower price? thank you.

I would go with the J-3 Cub (I own one).
The Decathlon is basically the same plane, but a little heavier, which is not as good since the J-3 is not a powerhouse to start with.
Using a different prop on the J-3 gives you more power and speed (less crashes from stalls as you are learning).
There are lots of recommended upgrades on both of these planes in this forum. I fly my J-3 almost every day.
Lots of luck!

I've seen both, didm't think much of either. Try a Begin-air at www.parkflyers.com It's about the same price and has ailerons.
