There are two primary command systems that are used on 72 mhz FM radios in North America. The most commonly used is FM/PPM, usually refered to as FM. The other is FM/PCM which adds a few features. Both are FM.

Some radios can transmit on FM/PPM and some on both.

Receivers are usually either FM/PPM or FM/PCM capeable.
