I was just about to purchase the parkzone j-3 cub after hearing all of positive reviews in various forums. However; I just read on Hobbyzone's website the posting of their new SuperCub coming out this July. The spec's sound great and it seems that comparing the two planes specs the new Supercub seems to be the better plane. I always thought that parkzone was hobbyzones higher end planes but in comparison it seems that the supercub seems better for the same price. Am I missing something? Does anyone know anything on this new supercub? Would you hold out for the supercub or purchase the j-3 now? Any thoughts or insights would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like the HobbyZone Cub is an attempt to correct some of the deficiencies of the PZ Cub and to make a Cub that would be a good beginner's plane, while the PZ Cub is definitely not a beginner's plane, but is an intermediate plane. I would wait and get the new plane. (And fly it without ACT, which has proven to be a troublesome function on the Firebird Freedom.)

I was teaching my 8 year old son to fly the SuperCub the other day. He hit something pretty big - California. Anyway, we had to replace the wing, the prop, the firewall and the cowl. We got the Cub back together, but the plane leans to the left now and is very difficult if not impossible to control. Anybody out their with some suggestions?

is it balanced properly?

Is your rudder servo properly trmimed out?

Did you get the motor mounted with the same offset as it was originally? (i.e. it should not be straight out from the firewall, but lean to the right and down a bit.

As cjg mentioned it could be several things.
If it is convenient you might take it to the local hobby shop, tell them what happened, what you did, and see if they can help. They might be able to spot it right off and show you how to fix it (or just fix it for you).

Really the Super Cub is not the best trainer for your pilots. Not the best, but it is a good trainer. It looks cool and flies well and is durable for it's looks. But a strong nose dive at take off will cause problems with the front mounted prop. The easier to learn with trainers have the prop at the back but they don't look as cool.
